If the skins sign Manning they assume he'll play for 3 years at least so I doubt we'd also take a qb high

I just dont see drafting Richardson as part of Cleveland's plan. They are trying to re-sign Hillis, so it seems more logical that they would focus early draft choice on something other than a running back.

Is this the same Hillis that was a pain all season for them?

Shameless self-promotion. It is what it is.

Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)

So I was listening to Mike and Mike today and they had Two Tall Jones on, they asked him who were the QB's he hated to play against, basically knew his work would be cut out for him and his response was... Frank Tarkenton, Joe Theismann... etc etc. Basically said he didn't like the scrambling QB's.

Which also got me thinking ... maybe we are going about our QB position all wrong, our last FRANCHISE QB was Theismann and he came to the Skins as a kick returner. So lets go get a 6' + kick returner and make him a QB. lol.

That's Ed "Too Tall" Jones, as in too tall to play football. The label stuck as a nickname.

Theismann came to the Skins as a QB but he was stuck behind Jurgensen and Kilmer on the depth chart. He was so anxious to play football that he begged his way onto the field as a punt returner. He also punted once, with disastrous results.

It's hard believe just back in the 70's and 80's, you had quarterbacks doing more than just quarterbacking the team. Just like Danny White serving as punter for the Cowboys as well as quarterback. You would think it would have made the other team's special teams think fake on every punting down.

How about a 6+ who used to play wide receiver and make him an NFL QB and rhymes with Benadryl?

Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)

Ok here's hopefully my last crazy/funny idea.... lets take B.Banks and coach him up to play QB and beef up the OL. The way I see it.... defenses can't hit below the knees, can't hit helmet to helmet, so what are the 6' 300 pound DL's going to grab? and maybe if he crouches down so his helmet is at his knees then they really can't touch him. lol. Then we can use the Wild Cat more and B.Banks will have a bigger role in the offense and we don't have to worry about his small frame getting injured. lol.

Manning may be a fit for Kyle Shannahan offense. Matt Schaub is a downgraded version of Payton

Manning if healthy is a fit for any offense.

Here's my only issue with Manning and it was brought up on Mike and Mike today while they were talking to the old Ravens HC Billick, basically said there are two knocks against Peyton from the start;

1- he will not have done any playing in over a year and a half.
2- no matter where he goes he will have to learn the verbage and plays.

He said what makes Peyton so good is the fact he was in the same system for so long that he would go into the meetings and basically take over and tell the OL what he wanted them to do and tell the WR's what he wanted them to do and had all those years in the same system to work on the hand signs and signals. Where ever Peyton goes next probably won't be as effective atleast for 2 yrs.

I like Peyton and want him here and would love to see him succeed but I honestly think he's done and would hope that if he's declared done then he wouldn't mind staying on as an assistant to work up the coaching ranks. I could see him and KS planning plays together, Peyton coaching up the QB's and helping out with signals and signs here.

sure, but I wouldn't underestimate the learning curve in a new system. I'm not just talking about the learning curve for him, but also for all the other guys that haven't played w/him & his new coaches. The older a player is the more difficult it is mentally to make the transition.

I could easily see how a perfectly healthy Manning at 36 could go to a new team & really struggle, maybe due to little fault of his. He's had such a command of his team for so long & his success has hinged largely on his constant pre-snap calls & communication to his teamates. To come in & get a new team on the same page w/him while he is also learning a new system might be more of a task than most of us think. It might take a year to get in sync, but the guy's physical ability is likely to be declining even if he's healthy.

you posted while I was writing mine! Some of the same points I made. Plus, please don't anyone compare Farve & his last good year in Minnesota to Manning. Totally different style, Manning is a perfectionist & control freak that needs total command of the offense in order to play his game.
