2- I'd almost rather have the kid on the North team who had to make some thing out of the bad snaps. He showed he could roll out and if had to run for the yardage. Taking RGIII to me would be like purchasing a race horse and binding one leg and using him for jumping instead of running races. If this team is not going to use RGIII as a race horse or for his skills then we are just hindering ourselves and should look into a different QB. 3- There are rumors that they met alone and worked on specific things like footwork, throwing motion, and god knows what else. Why wouldn't KS bring the other South QB's along especially since Foles needs footwork help? Otherwise I have no answer. But if there is no other option then I'd say lets get Weeden for now and Foles if possible for future development. |

Sure we could, I think it's quite probable that an early picked is used on presumed starter to be, Rex is re-signed for a couple of years as the vet backup/compete for starting, and a mid to late round pick is used on a qb to groom as a backup.

But I still think we'll end up falling short of getting either.

No to Grossman. I don't even want him at FedEx field, let alone actually dressing for the game.

In somewhat related news, new mock draft from National Football Post Mock Draft: Version 2.0 | National Football Post I still am not so sure they're going to trade up for RG3. But I know I'm in the minority on that

Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
I am no fan of Rexy, but I'm just thinking realistically about it, he's been here a couple years, knows the O well & shouldn't cost much. Of course if he gets a good deal elsewhere I'd be stunned if Allen got into any bidding war, they'd let him walk.
I wouldn't be hurt if he left w/out so much as an offer, but I wouldn't be upset if he were the backup. |

I think it's time to start fresh and move on from Rex, even as a backup.

I agree, our QB stable is quite stale. I'd like to have three new names after the draft. (UDFA's)

There comes a time when you need NEW QB's, that way the OLD QB's cant teach the NEW QB's bad habits, and that time might be now IMO.

Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
I think it's very possible the Colts surprise everybody by trading out of the #1 overall pick, pick up more draft picks, and grab someone like Orton. They have already gutted that whole franchise, so they know it's not going to be an overnight situation. They might be willing to grab a developmental QB in this draft, or maybe even wait until next year to grab a guy like Barkley - or both. So, I don't think it's a lock on Luck to the Colts at all. As matter of fact, this sounds more logical to me than the Colts simply drafting Andrew Luck at #1.
If that actually transpires, then I can see the possibilities of the Redskins doing one of two things - trading up to #2 to draft Andrew Luck, or trading the #6 for Sam Bradford. It all comes down to which one is more valuable - Luck or Bradford? And also the "new coach" factor. Did Coach Fisher decide to go to the Rams simply because Sam Bradford is already there, or did he go to the Rams because he knows there's a legitimate chance at dealing Sam Bradford away for Andrew Luck? I tend to think the latter. If the Rams can't get Luck or either get offered a better deal by keeping Sam Bradford, then Fisher still has a solid starting QB. So, either way, the Rams win. The Colts still win, because there's no way they're rebuilding that team within one year. But, their rebuild will be accelerated by grabbing more draft picks this year and next. Yes, the more I'm thinking about this (and I apologize if I'm repeating anybody here) the more I'm thinking these rumors make more sense than what is floating around in the public media. All of us who say we're more realistic and level headed aren't seeing the fact that Mike Shanahan HAS to have a franchise quarterback this year or he's probably gone. Trading down to pick up a developmental guy or a guy that probably isn't ready to start in the NFL is taking a HUGE chance. If this was year one in Washington, that would be the best option. But, this is year three for Shanahan. He HAS to pull the trigger on getting HIS guy now. I think the Redskins have JUST ENOUGH on offense to make this work well enough for this year.

Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
With Peyton Manning on his way out the door it really makes no sense for the Colts NOT to draft Andrew Luck with the number one pick. That is if they really believe that Luck is a once in a generation quarterback who could put the Colts back on a trajectory of becoming a winning franchise again.
The possibility of Manning not playing for Colts next season (if that indeed happens), I think, is probably Irsay's way of nudging him into retirement out of a genuine concern for his health -- probably moreso than his perceived inability to co-exist with Andrew Luck. |
