I was pissed about that game, mainly because even when the Pats were blowing us out, they were going for it on 4th down in the 4th quarter. That was the year the Pats decided to go all HAM on the NFL and blow out everybody to prove how dominant they were. I was definitely upset about it at first but eventually I felt like I agreed more with the sentiment that it's a game and if you don't want it to happen, you need to stop them. If they don't want to pull starters in the 4th, or settle for a field goal, that's their prerogative.

I think w/that much of a margin it's still not only classless, but flat out bad karma & risky. If Brady got hurt throwing on 4th down it would've looked pretty stupid on Belicheck's part. Getting beat like that makes some players frustrated to the point of fighting, late hits, etc. Guess hoody knew we couldn't get to him!

Exactly why I don't have much of a problem with it now. The Hoody knows the risk he's taking by leaving in his starters late in a blowout win. It actually burned him back in the day when Welker got injured in a meaningless game after the Pats already wrapped up their division. Not sure what year that was though.

As a coach these are the games that worry me more than the "tough games" against "tougher opponents". We must NOT take St Louis for granted. They have had our number the last couple of years and are hungry for a win. If we cannot find a way to put them away early their confidence will build and all of our blood pressures will go into overdrive.

I don't think we are going to take them lightly. We have something to prove with this game. Before the Dallas game, many in the media had us as a "fake" 2-0 that would get exposed in Dallas, and we were. Grossman has to show he is a good QB. Kyle needs to get a good gameplan together. If this guy wants a HC position he better start showing us some innovative stuff on Sundays. So far, he qualifies as a journeyman OC, like Martz. The D is tight, but not quite as dominant as they were a few years ago, but then again you can't put our cornerbacks into many one on one situations. We no longer have Darryl or Champ back there. We are a good football team. WE probably won't win the division, but if things pull together well, maybe have an outside chance at a wildcard.

Yes in deed. Although the talent is better this year than the last few, the biggest difference to me is that we look like a more professional product mentally. We can still play like boneheads but in a different way. The circus is out of the program. It's that mentality that makes me think we'll put them on tight this Sunday and bounce back the right way after the Dallas loss as opposed to last year or the Zorn era. We're all at least on the same page. Might be the wrong page, but the same one.

Re: Skins v Rams pregame

How many of you had a tough time sleeping Monday night after the game? I could not get that 3rd and 21 out of my head. I wonder if D-Hall had a good nights sleep. We had our chances to pull away from Dallas but we did not make enough plays in the end on the road.
As for the Rams game this is a game that we can come out and jump all over them. I want to see us score on every possession in the 1st half and not FG's. I would like to see our offense get a lead so our defense can T-Off on Bradford and the Rams. If the Redskins want the fans to respect them this is a game where we should win by 14 points or more. When was the last time the Redskins went on the road and put a beat down on a opponent? Its been to long so lets start this Sunday. HTTR

yes. I really really hope Shanny and co. spent alot of time with redzone offense because last week shoulda been an eye opener. Like to see a little more play action bootleg, get rex moving out the pocket, maybe WR screen to Santana, and some Cooley plays at HB and TE. We need something.

One thing that is killing us, is the Running Back stretch plays...that zone block sh*t isnt working when the line is crowded. Maybe 5 set Spread Draw with Helu, some power stuff with Torrain, or pitches to Hightower to get around the corner....

Any thoughts to improve the Redzone Offense?

Great post Chico. Simple and Obvious but, Spot on! Also glad to see some of us still see Torain as missing piece to our running success.

Id like to see us take some shots in the endzone once we get near the 20. I feel like at that range the D is still spread out enough, theres still enough space to run a seam route or something.

I feel like once we get inside the 15 or 10 it becomes more cramped and unless we do something to get some misdirection or create space like a roll out (which i havent seen yet for some reason) or do some kind of PA (like the only td in dallas) we arent really effective.

itd be great if our run was effective inside the 10 i havent really seen that yet.

idk, i think maybe the skins have gone more conservative in the RZ since rex' troubles down there in the 1st half against the cardinals. ever since then, it seems to me the philosophy has changed.

I think this would be Torain's most "valued" area, from the 10 to the goaline. Id be thrilled to see Torain's pads lowered going off tackle down there.

Fred Davis is 6'4" 250 lbs. and has shown the ability to go up in the air to grab a pass. I think we need to use his height and jumping ability in the endzone more often.
