I was thinking that maybe they waited to capture him when it was a bit cold outsides....if I'm not mistaken, reptiles need the heat to be active and slow down in colder weather. I know this is the Phillipines, but this is the only way I can think they could have gotten to this monster without getting killed. Either that or a ton of tranquilizers.
