It's like we always try and get other peoples players right when they're entering their prime, or past their prime instead of drafting our own guys, letting them play together and let them enter their primes together. I'll say it again, bringing in a lot of other teams players doesn't work. The good teams get free agents here and there to mix in with establised core players.

I like some of the guys they signed, but I question whether a guy like Cofield will fit in here. Hopefully he will.
So I'll ask again. How do you plan on filling the roster?

Last year's WR camp invites.

Staying Medium: Redskins position preview: Wide receivers

Santana Moss, Devin Thomas, Malcolm Kelly, Bobby Wade, Mike Furrey, Terrence Austin, Joey Galloway, Brandon Banks, Roydell Williams, Shay Hodges, Anthony Armstrong.

That's 11!

(Glad that guy had no clue what he was talking about with his predictions)

I was being sarcastic but that doesnt translate well to written posts. I agree 100% with you but that's not how it was portrayed to or looked at by the fans (especially when Gibbs was brought back).

How can they draft a bunch of guys when they dont have any draft picks or much talent to trade for picks?

You are correct, I forgot they had so many pick this year because for the most part they were all after the 4th round.

Yeah well we did have a 1st, 2nd, and 4th as well. Plus we went into the draft with what 5 picks? And then leveraged that into 12. Pretty good. So you can't really say they aren't placing a high value on the draft.

Bottom line is you need a healthy mix of draft picks and free agents, and I think you're seeing that. Rome wasn't built in a day. I think a philosophical change in team building is pretty evident at Redskins Park these days.

You are right, when you look at successful teams they have the mix you point out. They are placing that value on the draft for now but things can change pretty fast at Redskins Park. I think if the Skins could ever get some stability at head coach and have a system (both in game plans and player acquisition philosophy) in place for more than 2 or 3 years it would do wonders for the team's onfield performance. Successful teams just dont change coaches/philosophies as often as the Skins do.

Re: How far can Beck take us?

You know, even if Beck does have a great season this year, or Grossman for that matter, I still see this team going into the draft next offseason and getting our long term answer at QB. We might even flip one of these two qb's for picks or a player, since they're both over 30 and clearly not the future.

Re: How far can Beck take us?

Dont know much about beck apart from watching a handful of his games with miami.

For this year i have no prob heading into week 1 with a unheralded qb (beck, grossman) whom the shannys think fits their system best.

Unless the D does an about face, the W-L record isnt going to look pretty imo this year.

The biggest thing i want is a qb who can run their system to some degree. I really want to see what the shannys system looks like b/c apparently with mcnabb freestyling and not picking up the playcalls, we didnt see it last year.
