Re: Day One Draft Grade

The Skins get a B, because Rogers may have been the best CB fit here (tall, and willing to come to voluntary workouts), and Campbell will either push Ramsey to succeed or win the job in the coming years. A vote of confidence for 2005 isn't a lifetime pass, and Ramsey needs to be the Redskins leader.

Having a good younger QB on the roster is standard Gibbs. Lost in the idea of winning three Super Bowls with three different QBs is that the position had frequent turnover. The next best thing is out there, and Coach thinks he has it.

C for the Campbell pick. Good prospect, but a reach at #25. Who knows what the future may hold, we may love this pick down the road, but in today's win now NFL, you've got to question this pick.
Almost exactly how I feel about it! I gave a B overall as well.

I was very happy that we didn't go with the flashier, riskier, more Snyder-esque pick in Williams. Rogers seems like he may not just replace Smoot, but has the potential of being a substantial upgrade. If we hadn't had a big need player right there, we would probably have picked Williams.

#25: C
I really didn't agree with the Campbell pick, mostly out of faith in Ramsey, but the more I've thought about it and read about it, this may be what pushes Ramsey over the edge into taking ownership of the team and reaching the potential so many of us have been talking about for four years. Plus, if Joe Gibbs really likes the guy, who are we to argue?

Re: Day One Draft Grade

My only reason for argument is that there were plenty of other players available that seemed more feasible to draft.

Again, I'm trusting in Gibbs' judgement.
