It's idiots like this that make it so you don't want to bring your family to an NFL game anymore unless you're in a box or in club level.

About to have a family and I would love to take my daughter to a game in a few years, but this is not the behavior I would enjoy her to be around.

My advice to you Art is just get the premium seating tickets. I get nosebleed seats at Ford Field, and those are nice, and the folks are pretty nice. THe Ford's made damn sure drunks aren't tolerated to give it a family atmosphere, but alas it looks like Fedex is more like the Silverdome, which they just leased. It actually helped when they brought the team back downtown. They really need to ban the booze from being sold in the stadiums, but of course corporate America won't allow that.

Totally agree with you on that one. Most stadiums don't enforce the two beers minimum rule, and already intoxicated fans should not be allowed in to games.

Yes it is. That's why there are rules in place at stadiums, but most places simply don't enforce them. There is nothing wrong with cheering for your team, but some take it too far (like the Phillies fan that vomited on the man and his daughter). I can't excuse extremely rude behavior because one sees an NFL game not family oriented. You go to games to have fun, root for your squad, make friends with fellow fans, not get drunk and scream and shout obscenities in front of young onlookers. Take a look at the Redskins fan code of conduct.

Quote:
Fan Code of Conduct

The NFL is committed to creating a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable experience for all fans, both in the stadium and in the parking lot. We want all fans attending our games to enjoy the experience in a responsible fashion. When attending a game you are required to refrain from the following behaviors:

* Behavior that is unruly, disruptive, or illegal in nature
* Intoxication or other signs of alcohol impairment that results in irresponsible behavior
* Foul or offensive language or obscene gestures
* Interference with the progress of the game (including throwing objects onto the field)
* Failing to follow instructions of stadium personnel
* Verbal or physical harassment of opposing team fans

Event patrons are responsible for their conduct as well as the conduct of their guests and/or persons occupying their seats. Stadium staff will promptly intervene to support an environment where event patrons, their guests, and other fans can enjoy the event free from the above behavior. Event patrons and guests who violate these provisions will be subject to ejection without refund and potential loss of ticket privileges for future games.

We thank you for adhering to our Fan Code of Conduct. Let’s all enjoy the game!

The kind of behavior of which you speak is what makes "some" situations unplesant for "some" young people. I say "some" because often I witness young people being the culprit in many instances. There are some people who don't seem to be affected by foul-mouthed people, while others are.

I'm all for rooting for the team and having fun doing it, but when the language becomes an endless tirade of profanity laced expressions, it ceases to be fun anymore. It's not condusive to the experience of which the games were intended to provide. In most instances we're talking about people who know no other way to express themselves. Some come from environments where that form of expression is commonplace.

Totally agreed. I want nothing more than to drive up to Landover with my 9 year old son to attend a game. But I'm not sure how worth the 6 hour drive, ticket price, parking hassle, etc would be if I have to constantly worry about a drunk, or a fan that can't keep his language under control.

I'm not saying treat this as a game of golf or the opera, because I can get as loud and boisterous as the rest of the fans, but I keep myself in control (no matter how horrible we play, or how many stupid mistakes we make), especially with youth present.

Bad language is the least of my worries when it comes to taking a young kid or my wife to a game, my real concern was always the drunk who was itching for a fight because he overheard you say something he didnt agree with. The combination of a violent game and booze seemed to cause some guys (usually on their only day they get a hall pass) to grow beer muscles and get violent.

You can say that at most NFL venues though. Ford Field doesn't go for that stuff and I have never seen anyone off their ass drunk, but the Silverdome was an entirely different story. Never went to the Dome without being surrounded by drunks. Pistons games at The Palace are bad too. You get all of these rich yuppie types from Oakland co that just party, get boozed up and yak in the aisles.

Ford Field was a good experience both times that I was there. I just hate how you can't keep the top to your bottle. The 2nd time that I went I made sure to carry a bottle top just for that.

I'm not talking little kids and a pregnant wife. They're not even for a husband/wife or father and teenage son.

But somehow people got just as shit-faced at RFK, but your pregnant wife and kids could still come.

I didn't see a ton of games at RFK, but did see a few and remember the occassional drunk moron. I usually get to one game at Fed-Ex per year and the obnoxious drunk is now more the norm rather than the exception.
