Well the amount of money is different but TW and his family put on pants/dress the same way as anyone else. Yes he might be a famous golfer but they are going through the same thing as any other family when these things happen. The only difference is their divorce is in the news and talked about but the real life stuff is still the same. He is loosing his family, wifes is loosing her husband, and worst part of all of this is the children are loosing their family/dad to a point.

It's a cold, calculated business decision which he deserves to be on the wrong end of. She's figuring hey, I can write a book and make a boat load of money. Or you can give me the equivalent (or thereabouts) of what I could earn, and I'll stay quiet.

Either way she gets her money. But don't act like she owes Tiger any compassion here. He made his bed, he's got to lie in it.
Brilliant.

It's not about feeling bad, How much money does she need? That's a stupid amount. A hundred million or something like that will suffice. That is ridiculous. We need alimony reform and a cap and trade on these ho****S.

This was not done through the courts and they settled this between them self. She would not have received anything near this through the court system. TW is paying her not to talk about what happened and their relationship and that it.

Actually it's not too far off. If the gross income, after taxes, is $ 60,000 or $ 5K per month. $ 2,000 per month in alimony and child support is in the ballpark in many states.

Okay, cool. I get it. He don't want everybody to know he was smoking crack that night he crashed. That's the only thing worth that much to keep a secret.

The truth is more that he was trying to get away from his wife who had a golf club in her hands when he crashed. She may have knocked him silly before he ever got behind the wheel.

How much money does Tiger need?

By law, she's entitled to that money just as much as he is.

You have nothing of substance to support your argument. Point blank period.

Schneed, Schneed - it's JTF, he doesn't need substance to support his arguments. Never has. Never will. It's a zen thing.

I feel very sad for the children. Think of the stories they'll read about their father's sordid activities when they are old enough. Ick. Plus presently, at such a young age, they now have to cope with a broken home. This whole fiasco is such a shame on many levels.

Thats the real story here not the money. I raised a daughter on my own and even though you and your X keep the child out of the BS it still affects them. My daughter is now 24 and we have talked about it and she tells me about how she wished she could have just spent Christmas, her birthdays, etc.. with just mom and dad. Not dad and then mom and not with them just at the same birthday party but as a family which you can never do once your parents split. People act like divorce is OK and the children will be OK but I don't think we realize the harm it does to them. My daughter lived a happy life but the living as a family part was something I could not ever fix. People need to think before they decide to bring children into the world and if they do split they need to put the children's needs above theirs but that does not happen in allot of divorces now days.
