Re: Redskins Send 5th Rounder to Rams for Carriker and a 5th (Swap 7ths)

I honestly don't know how people are saying Carriker is better than anything, whether it's a first rounder or a fifth rounder. We're getting a guy who's had two shoulder surgeries and has been playing on a bad ankle since college, the same ankle that has given him trouble two seasons with the Rams.

Does this guy have potential, of course he does. But he's been a bust until now. No other way around it, guys.

Do we hope he pans out, sure. But there's nothing in his brief NFL career to suggest that the Redskins got the better of this deal. If he stays healthy, I'll consider this a good deal for the Redskins. His production on the field is another issue.

Well, we got him for practically free...so no real risk but there is potential.

So if this guy can't make it on the field or barely plays, you're okay with sending a fifth rounder away just like that?

It's a risk in my opinion.

Hope this trade works out great, but there is just no way the Rams gave up on top prospect without very very good reason.

Carriker actually had a pretty good rookie season. He was named Rams rookie of the year (for what that's worth). His sophomore season he slumped for sure, but the jury is out on whether it was him or the system. Then last year, yeah, he was injured. So he has not shined but I think it is too early to label him a bust.

We didn't send a fifth rounder away just like that, we just moved down a few slots in the 5th round

Like I said, I hope he certainly finds his groove here as a Redskin and works out well. But I have my doubts.

We didn't give up a pick, we swapped picks in the 5th and 7th

Pretty low risk move

i'm so confused right now, so you think it is to much of a risk to move down in the 5th 28 spots, and moving up 3 spots in the 7th, in order to add carriker to our roster? to me it sounds like they just gave him to us

I have my doubts as well but no risk very high reward if the position change sparks something in him.
