There's a lot of rubbish in this thread about McNabb not being a playmaker or not having pocket presence. Bull puckey! I'm not sure what McNabb you guys have been watching, but on his worst day he has more pocket presence than Jason Campbell.

Truth is we don't need McNabb to be great and he'll be in a more balance attack here. That's one of the biggest misnomer about this trade, we just need him be great in the fourth quarter of about half dozen games that Jason couldn't, for one reason or another, close over the past couple of years.
I honestly don't understand this type of thinking either. Just don't get it at all. We're talking about one of the better QBs in the league, the comparisons to JC are just laughable.

The comparisons are because people are wanting to use STATS. I'm not a stats person and I'll say McNabb is most likely better then JC, but the stats don't show it. If you start when McNabb came into the league then he will blow JC out of the water, but if you use last yrs stats or the last couple yrs stats cause that shows a better evaluation of what your getting now then JC's stats are comparable.

Plus JC had a horrible OL to play behind, a bad HC, a bad scheme, and not as good of WR's. The only consulation I can think of is Shanahan will have a better system, coached up WR's, hopefully a decent OL.

Comparing these two is a joke, I mean really.

Donovan McNabb: Career Stats

Jason Campbell: Career Stats

We shouldn't even be talking about these 2 in the same sentence. One guy is one of the top guys in the league, the other guy we can't even give away at this point.

Stats aside, anyone who tries to say that JC is in the same ballpark as McNabb is simply kidding themselves.

I won't argue career wise that JC is in the same ballpark, but in the upcoming 2010-2013 seasons, DM does not so upgrade our qb spot that we give up a very high 2nd and 4th next year for him. If this trade was in 2006, it would have been a steal. Now, it's just an old vet overpriced for a year or 3. Hopefully it goes like the Fletcher acquisition, but it reeks of Jason Taylor desperation.

McNabb's career stats won't mean shit if THE SKINS don't go deep into the playoffs! To answer the the question, 'What have you done for me lately?', neither one of these QBs have done much for THE SKINS, therefore they are one of the same. McNabb is a future HOF... as a Eagle.

I really don't care about that. When the game is on the line JC can't put the team on his back and win a game 2 or 3. He just can't do it. I love the guy as a person, classy stand up guy but he just didn't make enough plays to help the team win. Shanahan and Allen have done thier homework on JC and I trust them. McNabb gives us what our offense has been missing, big play, home run type ability.

That about sums it up. They've obviously seen all they need to see, and there's no way Campbell stays here in any capacity.

The bummer about this whole deal is that we probably won't get squat for JC now. Then again, if we somehow got rid of him before this deal, then the Eagles might have been able to demand more for McNabb.
