If he strongly expresses to the Rams he doesn't want to go there they might pass over him was his thinking I believe.

We can always hope for that refusal, though.

He'll be thrilled to be the #1 pick...making #1 pick money.

Bradford does have the look to be the best QB in the league for the next 12 years.

Does he prefer #1 money or to play for the Shanahans and still make a boatload of money?

exactly. besides, i'm sure Bradford would end up making close to the same amount as the #1 overall pick. Ryan Matthews was drafted 3rd and got #1 money.

Besides, if you think long-term, Bradford's career would likely be severely stunted in St Louis. His rookie contract might be awesome, but the chances he'd ever play well enough to get a great contract elsewhere would be slim. On the other hand, if he came to the Skins, he might make a little less money off of his rookie deal, but he'd have a greater chance of turning into a true franchise QB under the Shanahans. Within 4-5 years, he'd be signing a contract that, due to inflation, would likely surpass whatever Manning gets in his next extension.

There aren't any other teams I can think of in this leage that lack a franchise QB who have coaches on staff who've proven they can develop franchise QBs. Now, i've gone on record saying I don't really like any of the QBs in this years draft all that much. However, if I were Sam Bradford or Jimmy Clausen, I'd be selling my butt off to the Skins to make them either trade up to get me (Bradford) or take me at 4 (Clausen).

He's not refusing to play for or sign with the Rams though. He told us today that's all BS. The chance to play for the Redskins? Sure it'd be exciting, tradition, Shanahan, parents are big fans, etc. But if the Rams take him he'd be thrilled and happy to play for them.

Re: Sam Bradford's pro day workout should clear up top of NFL draft

Well it is a very subjective statement, and it would depend on where and for who he plays.
Playing in a major football conference; Big 12, and a major college program; Oklahoma, his 2 full seasons were ridiculous. His fresh & soph stats: 565/824 for 68.5%; comp%, 7,841 yds, 86 TDs, 16 Int, 178.68 QB rating, and a Heisman Trophy. He was poised to have his best year yet before injury.
His Pro-Day brought comments like "Best since Aikman"-Gil Brandt: "Best Pro-Day I've seen in 6 years"-Mike Mayock: "He killed it"-Todd McShay among many others, but those 3 are well respected NFL analysts.
He has incredible accuracy and intelligence, a legit NFL arm, quick release, and good decision making skills, according to multiple scouts. He has all the tools you would look for in a 'Franchise QB'.
Past performance is no guarantee, but with the NFL adopting more of a spread type passing game which fits Bradford's style, I think he has as good a chance as anyone to the best QB in the next decade.

i can't remeber what thread it was in any help would be appreciated, but there was a link to an article that had sports journalist's qoutes leaving the players names blank to see if you could guess the players names and half of the quotes were about jamarcus russell, and they are all along the same lines as the qoutes you have above. they all get hyped coming out of college but when it comes down to it there is no way to predict how any one player will adapt to the nfl after leaving college. just look at ryan leaf and tom brady. stats are what they are, numbers, results are what mean something

Seems like that was just a scenario someone presented in the media and everyone just ran with it. He doesn't seem like that kind of guy to me.
