Marcus Mason was picked up by the Chargers.

Right, that's what was surprising. He's currently holding LT's roster spot. Never thought I'd see the day.

Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread

Why isnt anyone bringing up the prospect of possibly getting Pike with our 4th rounder. Alot of people think he could possibly drop that low, and if he does, what a steal that would be. We would have a young talented backup to JC, and after 1 or 2 years with Shanahan, he could very well compete and steal the starting job away from JC.

Just saying........He would definitely be an upgrade over Cult Brennan. I just dont know why he isnt getting a little more attention on these boards, he is after all, very similar to Elway, just a bit taller, and not as much zip on the ball, but those things can be worked on. His release is almost exactly like Elways........

Again, Just throwing that out there.

Think I used enough commas? lol

A lot of people here are not sold on Pike, but I think he'd be a great value in the 4th round.

Personally with Pike the only real attribute I see is his height. His accuracy is average, his arm strength is nothing to write home about, he comes exclusively from a spread offense where he put up decent numbers but average compared to other spread QB's, and on top of that he's very brittle. You think Bradford won't be able to hold up at 236 pounds wait till you see Pike at 223.

I will say though that he does seem to have a pretty good head on his shoulders but in this, the ultimate QB intangible draft ie the anti-Big Ben and Michael Vick draft, he pales in comparison to Bradford, McCoy, and Tebow .

I would much rather have Tebow if it came down to getting a mid round prospect though I also favor Robinson (Ok State), LeFevour, and Snead. Above all else though my favorite non-first round QB at this point would probably be McCoy.

From our good friend Adam:

Top 5 acquisitions so far
March, 10, 2010
Posted by Adam Schefter
Free agency kicked off Friday with a flurry. Chicago won the free-agent Super Bowl that Washington regularly wins. But there still were other moves that will help their teams win games this season. Here are my top five acquisitions since the free-agent signing period opened:

1. Baltimore Ravens WR Anquan Boldin
Whereas Dallas paid Detroit first-, third- and fifth-round picks for Roy Williams, Baltimore gave up third- and fourth-round picks for Boldin and a fifth-round pick. Talk about value. Now, one of the toughest teams in football has one of the toughest players in football. And Joe Flacco has a new favorite toy.

2. Kansas City Chiefs RB Thomas Jones
After the Bears paid $7 million in guaranteed money to Chester Taylor, the Chiefs landed Thomas Jones for two seasons for $5 million. Talk about value. The $5 million also was $800,000 less than Jones was scheduled to earn this season in New York before the Jets released him. Taylor was a solid pickup, but Jones' signing topped it.

3. Cleveland Browns LB Scott Fujita
A team leader in New Orleans, Fujita now will bring his attitude and talents to Cleveland, a team in need of more players. It's hard to imagine how New Orleans could allow one of its more popular players to leave, but this is what happens to Super Bowl champions. Their losses mount in March.

4. New York Jets CB Antonio Cromartie
Three seasons ago, Cromartie was one of the best players in football. Two seasons ago he played hurt. Then last season he struggled. The Jets believe head coach Rex Ryan will get Cromartie to be the player he was three seasons ago. And if that happens, the Jets will be even harder to throw against.

5. Washington Redskins G Artis Hicks
In what might have been the biggest upset of free agency, on the first weekend, the NFC East Redskins, Cowboys and Eagles combined to sign a grand total of one free agent -- former Minnesota guard Artis Hicks, who went to Washington. The Redskins need to rebuild and remake their offensive line. This was a start.

I think your Pike Scouting Report is right on.

His numbers were inflated by the spread and Mardy Gillyard's playmaking abilities.

Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread

Snead seems to have gone up after the combine. I thought Kafka did OK also. Crompton wouldn't be a bad pickup either. My point really is there is a lot of QB talent out there that could be developed if we pass on the big name Qbs. A lot of the second tier guys actually could go undrafted and we could pick up 2 QBs!

@bydavidwhite: If Raiders and 49ers want OT help, they should note Barry Sims is now in talks with the Redskins, per his agent.

Is this the same OT Barry Sims that is 35 years old? Sure, that makes him 2 years younger than Philip Daniels, but hardly someone to follow on twitter. I'm all for add veteran depth but this would barely be real news.

Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread

Why havent we set up a visit with former Ravens OT Adam Terry? 6'8" 330 only 27 years old. His arms are a lil on the short side so he's more suited to play RT but last time i checked who we currently have there, its shakey AT BEST! i think he would be an immediate upgrade over Heyer and Williams. Would also let us be more flexible in the draft.

Yeah, the same one that loves to help holding penalties. I'm sorry, but there are better G's available than him.
