Re: Redskins pick 4th in the draft

Just wanted to let you all know that Maurkice Pouncey the very good Center from Florida is declaring for the draft. He, I believe, is the number 1 center now in the draft.

Re: Redskins pick 4th in the draft

Who else runs zone blocking schemes? Who is our competition for zone blocking offensive linemen?

^ The Texans and I also remember Atlanta did for a while, I dunno if they still run that type of offense.

Most teams run some zone schemes at least part of the time.

Hopefully his character issues causes him to fall that far or maybe trade up to get him.
I think it's more likely that SF trades one of their Round 1 picks for Donovan McNabb. He has one year left and they're high on Kolb for some reason. The idiot fans are once again asking for Donovan to be traded and we know Vick isn't the replacement. I think they'll shop him and his expiring contract around with teams like SF, Seattle, Cleveland to see if they get a bite while they can still get something in return. If not, he'll get one more year and likely will be benched for Kolb permanently sometime in 2010 at the first stumble.

I would go with Okung to immediately improve our oline. Then go with Spiller in the 2nd or J. Dwyer. What do you guys think?
Spiller in the 2nd? Doubt he's close to around at that point.

I asked first. To say that someone you've never seen play in the NFL won't be as good as someone that we've evaluated for years is kind of ignorant.

This is no surprise, McClain will enter draft. This guy will be a future franchise cornerstone for somebody a la Ray Lewis.

Won't happen
A) McNeil will be an RFA
B) If he isn't, he'll be franchised
C) Spiller is DEFINITLEY not a second round pick
D) I think we go with Okung or Bradford with the first pick. Keep in mind Shanahan got Cutler then Clady, not Clady then Cutler.

Shanahan had a pretty well established offensive line when he got Cutler in 2006. They team was top 15 in fewest sacked allowed, and top 10 rushing.

I don't think that was based on position. Cutler was his guy & likely 1st priority so he got in position to draft him. I would think the same would apply to this draft. If he likes a guy a lot he'll take him at #4.

It would make sense to me to draft the qb first (if you believe you need one) as they'll typically take longer than an o linemen to develop & start.

If Shanahan REALLY likes any of the QBs who are worth the #4 overall pick, then he should just take a QB there. There certainly aren't any tackles worth taking (okung doesn't really fit shanahan's system) at the spot. Trading down would be nice, though. Shanahan reportedly likes Tebow, and he's not worth taking anywhere near the top of the 1st round, although I think he is drafted in the first round. Ideally, iShanahan beleives he can work magic with Campbell and we can trade down in the draft and get two 1sts or a 1st and a second and draft 3 offensive linemen with our 1st 3 picks.
