It's much less than what Shanahan was originally asking for. That's all I know

Do you know if this means Shanny will have final say on the draft SmootSmack? I would expect him to have a strong imput but I'm hoping BA has final say in that area.

This whole decade is starting out in a better way than Snyders first decade. I hope it is the rejuvination of this franchise that every fan has looked for since JG was re-hired.

I hope Mike brings a passion to win and he and Allen make the football decisions while Snyder stays out of it. I think we'll only know if this is the MO in a couple years, based on the W-L record.
They'd been to the playoffs twice in four years before Zorn. Plus owners are usually going to just refer the prevous regime. I mean I could be wrong but I don't think when the Lions hired Jim Schwartz they were like "for just about the entire franchise's history we have failed to live up to our expectations..."

For real...it should have been Bill Cowher EVP of Football Operations. Right!

Tough to say for sure right now until the whole front office shakes out. Ultimately Shanny will have final say but Allen and the other guys will have major, major input and Shanny's decisions will be essentially based on what options Allen provides.

Considering what we're leaving behind in terms of the decision makers at the top (Snyder/Vinny) the majority of us seem to be welcoming Allen/Shanahan with open arms.

There will always be those that are never happy or eternally pessimistic. Not much you can do about that.

Redskins fans should all be happy today. We've got 2 professional leaders at the top of our organization. They've both had success and are running our team now. It's a great day.

It's not going to be fixed overnight though. Have a little patience. It might be a few years. We have a direction now though.

How would Cowher have made it any different?

This is best coach we've had here since Joe Gibbs first tenure with the team. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm happy.

This is a classic rebound choice. After a coach with little experience and control DS hires a coach with a ton of experience who exerts much more control. Kind of like when he hired Gibbs after the OBC.

DS didnt fail to make the obvious choice with lots of name recognition and I hope it works out. My only concern is Shanny's lack of success without a QB named Elway. Hopefully that problem wont follow him to DC.

The Cowher thing isnt the big deal here - the big deal is that Snyder is still running the show and nothing has changed. If Snyder wasn't going to be involved, Shanahan would have had the title of Team President. Hence my comment about different people / same story.

Its clearly evident that Snyder wanted Shanahan all along. Shanahan approved of Allen so Snyder put on a pretense of changing his ways by hiring a "real GM" and letting him make all the football decisions. But we don't have a real GM. Like Vinny before him, Allen is just carrying out Snyder's bidding. If Allen were a "real GM," he would have interviewed multiple head coaching candidates. But Snyder wanted Shanahan so that's the only person who was "interviewed."

Everyone can celebrate all they want now, but time will prove that Snyder hasn't changed one bit. It'll be 2001 all over again.

How did he do with a loser named Jake Plummer?
