The NFC East In The Last Decade

Presented here are data. You cannot argue with the numbers. You can only argue about what caused those numbers to be what they are. Or you can listen to Larry Michael who will try mightily to convince you not to pay any attention to the man behind the curtain...

Philadelphia Eagles:
Record: 97-53-1
Division Titles: 5
Playoffs: 7
Super Bowl Appearances: 1

NY Giants:
Record: 85-67
Division titles: 3
Playoffs: 6
Super Bowl Appearances: 2

Dallas Cowboys:
Record: 76-75
Division titles: 1
Playoffs: 3
Super Bowl Appearances: 0

Washington Redskins:
Record: 68-83
Division titles: 0
Playoffs: 2
Super Bowl Appearances: 0

Nothing wrong with those numbers at all. The only numbers that matter is profit margins, leading the league in attendance every season, and whatever other numbers show how much we love the fans and how much the fans love us.

For someone who lives so far away from DC, you certainly do have an in depth grasp of Larry's insight and analysis when it comes to any Redskins' problem/challenge...

Sadly, there are probably a half-dozen ass-kissers telling Danny Boy exactly what you just said here every day this week. And even more sadly, he seems pre-disposed to believe it...

I'm like that.....
Scary stuff SC.
You know what bothers me the most about all this besides the obvious losing and turmoil, etc.
In ANY serious NFL discussion of success or the things that surround it, we are not in the conversation. We have become....meaningless

Sadly I'm inclined to believe that's exactly the case judging by the way the last decade has gone.

And it's even more unfortunate that what might be the only thing going through Dan Snyder's mind is what free agent he will overpay (Michael Vick? We will need a new quarterback) to be the savior from free agency next season. He might be making a list about what to do to spin the franchise in a positive light next offseason.

I wish he'd be making a list that consists of examining the model franchises of the last decade and following their lead. Aka, hire GM/competent head of football operations, and let them build an organization that will be successfull for sustained periods of time.

Do your win-loss-tie numbers include regular season and playoff games?
Reason for asking is that the total number of games played by the Giants is more than the other 3 teams in the division.

And is it including this year? Because it says decade, but if you add up all the division titles, it only comes out to 9.

Philly and New England - those would be the models that I would follow. Build depth through the draft and add FA's to fill the holes. It all starts with the draft - stockpile picks and make them count. That goes against everything Snyder has done for the past decade, and sadly, even Gibbs bought into the build through FA and trade away draft picks philosophy.

Gibbs had no business coming back and it sort of tarnished his HOF career in doing so. Gibbs was more of a gimmick to get the faithful back and to keep them SPENDING mucho $$$$$$$$$$$.

Re: The NFC East In The Last Decade

Snyder probably did hope Gibbs would right the ship, and he might have, if Casserly or Beathred were around, but to me I think Snyder also thought what a great marketing tool it would be to bring Gibbs back and get folks thinking about the glory days.

Now now, that is not true. Someone has to finish last and we fill an important need in bringing up the rear.

Stats dont lie here. You can send your thank you card for the above to Snyder and Vinny, they run the show.
