Matty's diet is very similar to Weight Watchers essentially the same thing. WW is just converting calories into points. Both are very effective.

I was never a big fan of fast food to begin with so that was never an issue with me.

For lunch I hit sandwich/salad type of places, and most grocery stores have kick ass salad bars. I'm also a big sushi fan. Packing a lunch is really the best thing to do but I'm pretty lazy when it comes to that. I always keep good snacks on hand in my desk too.

I'm not always eating salads though. Had pizza for lunch today, just one slice and a bottle of water.

That's what my wife and I are doing now, and while the holiday weekend got us off track, I've lost 16 lbs. Only exercise I'm currently doing is chasing my kids around and playing softball 2 nights a week. Once I start exercising, I know it'll come off quicker.

The other big thing for us is to plan our meals out. We have a calendar where we write down all our meals and snacks 3 weeks in advance, and do our best to stick to it. It really helps us stay within our points range and if we need to substitute, we've doing our grocery shopping based on that week's meals, so the food is readily available.

Matty - I get my Omega3 Fish Oil pills from my local Vitamin Shoppe (House Brand) and neither my wife or I have ever gotten the fish burps from them.

Other than those, I take a Centrum daily, along with my BP and Cholestrol pills, which I'm targeting 12-18 months to be off of those, doctor and weight loss driven of course.

Oh, and if we're sharing recipes, here's a very basic one for shrimp:

1 lb 26-32 count shrimp
Skewers (soak in water at least 30 minutes before using)
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Old Bay (or seasoning of choice, being from MD, Old Bay it is)

De-vein and peel shells off of shrimp and pat dry with paper towel
Put shrimp on skewers, as many as will fit without touching (at this size, 5-6/skewer)
Brush both sides of shrimp with oil
Liberally apply Old Bay to both sides of shrimp
Put on heat source until shrimp is opaque

I've done this on a Foreman grill, on a stovetop griddle/grill and on my outdoor grill, and you can't go wrong with any of them.

This recipe is a nice addition to a meal (Surf and Turf). Go with a larger count if you are making this a meal on its own, go smaller if you want to make tacos. I usually use the 26-32 count because they are a decent size and I can usually get them on sale for $6/lb.

I love grilling shrimp and the hardest part is knowing when to take them off the grill. Old Bay all the way in VA.

I lost about 20 pounds last summer and I've kept it off. Moving in with my now wife really helped. She's a great cook, but she cooks healthy and I'm not tempted to just grab a Wendy's spicy chicken on my way home from work like I used to be. I'd say there are five things that have really helped me. (in no particular order)

- Exercise, even if it's just 30 minutes on the bike. At least 3 days of week of at least 30 minutes each time goes a long way.

- Avoid late night snacks. This is also coupled with going to bed at a decent time and getting a good night's sleep. I used to stay up all night just for the hell of it and snack away. Now I'm much more disciplined and only stay up late on a weeknight if I have to because I'm working late

- If you're hungry between meals, have a light snack. It's better to do that than starve yourself until the next meal. Because then what happens is you stuff yourself and you don't want that

- Don't deny yourself...but in moderation. I still get my chocolate fix. But instead of gulfing down an entire bar I'll just break off one piece from a dark chocolate bar and have that for dessert. After a while you get used to that being enough

- Pack your own lunch. This one is actually probably right up there with exercising. The food here at work is actually pretty good for the most part, and they do offer a good "healthy" selection. But at the end of the day you're better off packing your own lunch because you know what you've put in it and furthermore you can save a lot of money

Thats when I get the urge to have a snack while watching the Food Network its even worse when this is on

He has been to 4 places around here and one of the places he went was right on the water and me and my wife had planned on taking the boat there for lunch that day. I decided to go somewhere else and the next day we read in the papper that he was there. I had to hear about that for about a month.

I saw that list but did not see the place near us that he went to on that list called Chuck A Muks (sp). Its a neat little place right on the water with good food (not great) but I think its location is its attraction. Years back my buddy had his boat tied up there over night and something went wrong with his boat and it caught fire and also burned the place down.
