His forward progress took him only about three yards beyond the line of scrimmage when he was blocking his defender on the play. His actions were completely outside of the results of the play in general.

I mean, I think on a pass play you can't block downfeild at all, but I can't blame the guy too much either way, bc it seems like he thought JC was gonna run it in and so he started blocking for him. The penalty before that was definitely deserved though.
