Sean Taylor Cap Ramifications

Just wondering if anyone knows (Schneed) what are the salary cap ramifications of Sean Taylor's tragic death? Does the NFL grant cap relief for something like this? How does this effect the Redskins cap?

I imagine there would be some sort of relief to the team.

Re: Sean Taylor Cap Ramifications

You know i had the same thought this morning, and it made me feel like crap. The man had not even been dead for 12 hours and my mind had moved to this? This is going to change the Redskins whole secondary Def. not only losing their best player (forever), who knows what S. Springs is going to do, and if Rogers can recover from his injury. This def was built around ST and now he is gone, such a shame.

Yeah, we can talk about this in the offseason or in a few weeks, but not now. Too early.

Maybe a bit, but at the same time I'm not going to rule out any discussion today, unless of course it's some troll on here talking trash.

I did some quick checking regarding the Darrent Williams situation in Denver and was not able to find anything. I seriosuly doubt though that the NFL doesn't grant relief.

I admit that I wondered the same thing, then I hit myself in the groin for even thinking about it at a time like this.

Re: Sean Taylor Cap Ramifications

i dont think he was trying to disrespect Taylor by starting this thread.
The fact remains that while everyone will miss Sean, most of us only knew him as a football player- more specifically a Redskins Football player (the reason why we are all member of this site)- so asking about he salary cap ramifications, while at face value may seem crass, is relevant.

I also mean no disrespect when writing this... I also think it may be a means of coping for some people to talk about team ramifications...

Re: Sean Taylor Cap Ramifications

To say these type of post are out of line is not really fair to the person who wondered how this would effect us as a team. He was a football player and thats how I have known ST and become a fan of his. Even with this tragic death people will have questions to how it will effect the team that ST loved. Everyone has different ways of dealing with these types of things so lets not be to hard on someone who has questions like these. I know I will miss him out on the field and cannot help but wonder how we will ever find another player to take over for him. If you noticed I did not say replace because we can never do that.

Re: Sean Taylor Cap Ramifications

I agree we know him as football player. I love the guy for what he did on the field but say I know him as a person would be a insult to his family.

I don't think this thread is inapproiate. This is how his death will affect us, we lost a hero that helped our team win. =(

Re: Sean Taylor Cap Ramifications

At first I thought the thread was in bad taste, but it actually gets me thinking about something different than my deep sadness and sorrow for ST.......it kinda changes the subject for a few moments

Re: Sean Taylor Cap Ramifications

ok. we all are intitled our opinions and i think it is too early to care about the salary cap. this year is already over half way over. how about a thread asking who is going to take his roster spot?
