Mack Strong injured; chooses to retire

ESPN - Strong's spinal condition forces Seahawk to retire - NFL

Never like to see a good guy like him go down like that.... BUT i guess the silver lining (if there is any) is that Big Mike now has a real good shot at making his first Pro Bowl now that the perennial pro bowler is retired

Great player, perfect name. Glad he's retiring though instead of risking further injury to himself

I agree. This is a huge blow to the Seagals. And yes, this should put big Mike right up there with the best FB in the NFC this year.

On related note: Players are dropping like flies. You guys think Trent Green plays again this year?

You're talking Trent Green? If so, I think you're right. That was a nasty knee he took to the head.

I really think he should call it quits.

Ya, that was a HARD shot to the head. It was a shot that hard that took Aikman out of the league a few years back. I think Green should call it quits.

That's a shame about Mack Strong, he's always been a sentimental favorite of mine. He was a great blocking fullback.

This spells trouble for Shaun Alexander, he's already off to a weak start and now he loses Mack, he's in trouble.

Finally: The Mayne Event featuring Mack Strong about how he had to change his name from Johnny Cuddles in colllege was one of the best ones ever.

my favorite was when jamal lewis predicted he woudl break the single game rushing record, then mayne said he was able to see into the future

Re: Mack Strong injured; chooses to retire

You always hate to see players get forced to retire by injury, but it's a smart move by Mack Strong. He's been the best fullback in the NFC for a few years now, and it looks like Shaun Alexander isn't gonna have a very good season considering this and the way he's started. Good for him to leave the game though after having a long and productive career, and he gets to spend time with his family and he won't be further risking himself on the field.

As for Green, he should retire. That was a nasty ass blow, and at this point why risk it anymore? Especially for a team that's 0-5 this season.
