Re: Laron landry Early Opinions?????

Taylor is the free safety and Landry is the strong safety. Landry is going to be closer to the line than Taylor, and we'll see more of Taylor in coverage.

Look at that picture perfect technique by Landry. Head to the side, arms wrapped up, and he's driving through... textbook!

Ever since I have seen Landry play he has always had those textbook wrap-up tackles. He knocks you out the right way.

Landry is going to have a Sean Taylor kind of impact in this league. The man is a head hunter. Those two are going to run this league. We have the best young Safties in the game bar none. I wish somebody could name a better pair!

I don't know how you could say we have the best pair when Landry really hasn't played a down in the NFL yet.

I'll take a wait and see approach. They look good on paper, and I'm sure they are going to make "jacked up" a whole lot. But how are they going to cover? We gave up a ton of big pass plays so that's what I'm most concerned about.

As he's smearing the field with Collins ass. PERFECTION! I don't think collins ever liked perfection.....kinda slow getting up. NICE

From what I saw of Landry in LSU he had really nice cover skills. He's not as big as Sean Taylor who in all honesty is a freak he's built like a linebacker. I'm going to say as much as I love Sean, he doesn't cover the ball well at all. The thing that makes him good is that he is an amazing athlete. Landry is an amazing athlete and also has good cover skills. I think we will see more big interceptions from Landry than Taylor.

I would like to see him in coverage some, though. He will have to do some of it at some point. Pray-Low or Stoutmire will play some in obvious passing situations I would guess, but you can't blitz the SS on every play. Well you can I guess, but you shouldn't and GW won't.

The reason we all were so disappointed with Arch was his crappy coverage, so I would hope Landry is an improvement in that area. Having said that, they do say they will play more Cover 1 which means that Landry will not play deep, but he will have to run with the likes of Jason Whitten and Jeremy Shockey at times. Speed is obviously not the issue, but technique is. I'd hate to see him get picked on.

I have a feeling he won't be getting picked on too bad.
