I checked out a NASCAR Busch Car
Last Friday on my way down to the contest I stopped at Maryanne's shop. Maryanne makes all my banners, stickers and truck decals and stuff. She is a best friend and I love her to death.
Anyways she owns and operates Welcome to Graphic Motors Sports of Virginia and she does many race cars. Most are not the 43 cars you see on TV in NASCAR races but she has done and few of those as well. She had a white BUSCH car that was going to be a "Late Model" car so it was stripped white and getting ready for the #20 and much other cool stuff. I took the opertunity to climb in that bad boy and fired it up. YEP! I didn't drive it but got in and strapped up tight, put the helmet on, clicked on the steering wheel and hit the ignition. VAAAA Roooom!!!! THAT THING WAS SO LOUD! GOOD GOSH I COULD BARELY THINK. sorry for yelling The thing I most noticed was lack of movement and three tiny mirrors. Now I understand why those spotters are so important. "Outside", "Three wide", "All Clear" mean so much. It wasn't too hard for an old guy like me to get out but I skipped the Carl Edwards flip off the door. lol I did get out and thank the crew of the Graphics Motor Sport Chevy Team and put on my Graphic Motorsports Hat like she taught me. hahaha With my amputated foot I can't ever drive one but would love to go on a fast ride along one day. That would be so cool to be doing 180 going into a turn. Varooom!!!! Make a LEFT!!!!! peace mike

Re: I checked out a NASCAR Busch Car
I went for a ride along up in Loudon, NH last year. We didn't get to 180, I think we topped out at around 150 or so around the turns. But it was wild being inches away from the wall.
We did only two laps. I can't imagine doing 200 laps with 42 cars all around you

Re: I checked out a NASCAR Busch Car
Man that must have been too cool.
When I competed last year in the parking lot of Richmond International Raceway they were doing the Richard Petty Drive a NASCAR thing. You could pay to drive a whole race or a half a race worth of laps. It was like $400 for a 1/2 race worth of laps but you could break up yer driving and do part one day and the rest the next. It sounded bad ass in there as they went around.

Re: I checked out a NASCAR Busch Car
The closest experience I've had to either of yours was taking a lap around Indy when I was 6. Then I sat in an Indy car in the track's museum and got my picture taken. No engines were started though.
By the way, the lap was in a tour bus. |
