Grim you have valid points, but I am just surprised you started this thread. You are the one who is usually blasting people for overreacting.

And what about all those other people that skipped camp. Does it really even matter that much? I dont think teams around the league care that much about camps. I know Joe might, but overall how is this a big deal? GW still sweats STs nuts and we dont have another safety to play, they tried last year and that didnt work.

I just dont see the big deal with this issue...

How so?

Only once in his time as a Skin has he attended voluntary workouts. He's never held out, and he's never grumbled about his contract to the media. So why should we assume now it's his contact??

He did grumble about his contract before but never held out. He wants big money and with Landry about to get paid he will not play without a new contract. I'm sure of it.

I don't ever recall Taylor himself saying anything publicly about his contract.

Whoa...he grumbled once, to the best of my knowledge. And that was when that idiot Kellen Winslow II supposedly opened his mouth about the deal Taylor received during their rookie season.

That being said, if Derrick Dockery can lock up a monster deal, no way in hell the Redskins will let Sean Taylor get remotely close to testing the market.

Re: Springs and Taylor miss OTAs

Given his track record of not attending voluntary workouts, I just think it's silly to jump the gun at this point and assume it's due to his contract. It very well could be, but unless you know Taylor personally I don't think we're in the positon to draw any hard conclusions.

If he starts skipping out once things are mandatory, that's a different story.

Don't know what Dockery has to do with it.

Agreed. I also don't understand the argument that ST would be upset about Landry getting "paid." Landry will get paid what is standard, that is less than 5 and more than 7. ST understands this- re: the Kellen fiasco. didn't we extend ST's deal?

That's what agents are for. Taylor doesn't say much to the media about anything. Its a known issue that needs to be resolved. We can pretend that he's happy with his contract but you would be fooling yourself.

No, my point is if Dockery can get a great deal, how much more Sean Taylor. But I doubt it will get that far anway.

I think Dock's deal was much more a product of a hot guard market as opposed to his quality. Traditionally, safeties aren't earning that kind of pay (as least i don't think so), but neither were guards. Point being, i don't think you can translate Dock's deal to ST.

The best comparison we can probably make right now would be the deal that Roy Williams signed with Dallas last year.

4 years, $25M, bonus of $11M.

Salaries roughly went up about 30% this year, so we can project the current value of that deal to be $32.5M with a bonus of $14.4M.
