Whatever the 'Skins do I'm along for the ride. And if they acquire Briggs, despite all my complaining, I'd never be so happy to see myself wrong on something. See, the offseason brain is logical, and thinks through the salary cap, and roots for solid scouting of college players to acquire cheap talent to build the team for the long term. The in-season brain is illogical, emotional, and just wants to see the team smash face. The two brains don't communicate well with one another. The offseason brain can be ready to jump off a bridge, but the in-season brain is always going to eat, sleep, and breathe the burgundy and gold. It's not unlike man's two "heads." Sometimes the brain tells you no no no, this makes no sense. But the "other" head always says "shut the eff up, Spock, we're going in."

There sure were a lot of "D" words in that kid's post. Must be the letter of the day of Sesame Street.

But seriously, after all the debating (which is good cause it's fun to go back and forth on the team's personnel needs) I'm leaning more towards your view that this trade rumor is bogus. You know how much of a stickler the 'Skins usually are for the whole points value of draft picks. They usually stick pretty tight to the chart to help them value trades. We're squandering quite a few points by getting Briggs. Our pick is worth 1600, their pick is worth 600 or so, so in the proposed deal Briggs would be worth 1000. That's the equivalent of a mid-first rounder. I mean to the 'Skins really value him that highly? I guess it's possible but I wouldn't. I'd be asking for a 3rd rounder in that deal. Plus then there's all the stuff that PFT threw out there, explaining why Briggs isn't the best fit. Plus then there's the possibility that Danny and Rosenhaus are conspiring, with Rosenhaus's motivation being to drive up interest in Briggs, and with Danny's motivation being to scare Denver into making the Bly deal that's on the table. Of course, I could be wrong, and all of this could be wishful thinking. But I can see this rumor fizzling.

Re: How the Lance Briggs deal started.
Has anyone even determined whether that Briggs was a beneficiary of his scheme or surrounding. Maybe the fact that there were other Pro Bowlers on the Bears D was the reason he was playing at that Pro Bowl level?
Who knows, but it seems that the Skins FO has trouble assessing value to prospective free agents and Briggs situation doesn't seem to be any different. |

This one has me scratching my head -- in a nickel formation, doesn't the middle linebacker typically head for the sideline, leaving in the two presumably speedier outside linebackers? In this situation, I could see Briggs and Washington in on these types of plays. |

Ohh, I see, we should get him to be our nickel LB!

Re: How the Lance Briggs deal started.
I think Snyder and Rosenhaus are having a good laugh over this whole deal. Neither of them are favorites of the media and vice versa so I'm sure they are getting a big kick over floating this rumor out there.

I guess all I care about is not how these shenanigans started but how they end.
