As for the team, I'd focus on a single problem at a time. Every year we try to fix all the problems, all at once -- and then we're a lock for the superbowl ... oh brother, it just doesn't work like that. I'd start a three year plan. The goal of the plan would be to reach the playoffs in three years, and the superbowl in five. I'd spend the first year improving defense, the second year I'd improve rushing offense, and the third year I'd improve passing offense. Hopefully, by the third year, the team is top 10 offensively and defensively.

That's why I want Clements in FA and move Springs to safety.

and i'm down with getting more OL depth... we do have an option in todd wade on our roster, but he's not really a starting tackle, and even with jansen playing poorly, i'm not sure he'd be better. we do need a starter on the OL to either keep in reserve or possibly try as a starter at RT or LG, but that'd mean two expensive FA signings (two of CB, DE, OL + draft the other)... i mean, during the offseason we were talking about CB and OL depth, mid-grade FA LBs, P, K, and DEs... at least WR is taken care of :/. |

Tony Franklin as the number two CB in the draft?!
I have seen him play for two years now, and I don't think he is good enough for the first round. Seems like this is a poor CB draft.

Re: "with the first pick in the 2007 draft, the redskins select..."
i think some of the talent eval on that mock is off. on NDS he's the 21st rated CB and a 5-6th round pick.

Re: "with the first pick in the 2007 draft, the redskins select..."
That seems to make alot more sense. I think whoever did this mock, just randomly put people he felt were good, onto a list.

Lets say for sake of arguement we bring in Nate Clements next year. What happens to Springs? The three options: 1)We cut Springs, save the cap room and resign/sign a nickelback. 2)We keep Springs on board, demote Rogers and start Clements and Springs. 3)We keep Springs, demote him to the nickle role, and start Rogers along side Clements. For me the choice is pretty obvious, but I want to hear what the warpath thinks.

I say choice one, Rogers is improving, and cap space will be nice to help with the AA cut(hopefully)

Re: "with the first pick in the 2007 draft, the redskins select..."
How about we draft defensive linemen so that we actually have a pass rush? Drafting DBs is the wrong approach the problem with the Redskins is that we have not had stud defensive linemen since the 1st Gibbs era. The only time I remember when we had two good DEs is when Dexter Manley and Charles Mann played. We are long overdue to finally build a decent defensive line, and start working on the O-line. In my mind the if the 2007 draft is all d-linemen, O-linemen, and maybe a linebacker or DB for depth. But the lines need to get rebuilt.
