Re: Give me your best Terry Contract

Isn't Mclaurin already under contract??? Yeah he's in the final year but still. The team doesn't have to do anything. He can either play or sit at home. The team holds all the power. I sorta feel like you get your ass out there w/ your teammates and quit the bullshit. Try and get a deal done while you are doing the job you are paid a lot to do. Or, you can sit your ass at home and pout and not get paid.

If i am the FO i tell him and his camp to take my latest offer, and he not pull the offer on the table and he can play this year on his existing contract and even the next two via franchise tags. Saves the team a bunch of money and there is nothing he can do about it exit quit and walk away from approx. 85 million. McClaurin and his me, me, me attitude he is showing is really put me off and i am no longer a fan. IS he a good player, yes, very! Is he elite, no, far from it. And he is a greedy, greedy, lying asshat!!
I kinda feel the same way. I love everything he brings to the table, but he also plays a position that is one of the easier ones to replace. The main thing is we now have the QB. If you have a truly great QB then that guy makes the wr's around him better. So either sit at home and don't make millions, or get your ass in gear and let's go try and make a run at a SB.

I see this as Terry’s final year with us
Exactly. WR's can be found in the middle, later rounds or in FA. A franchise QB can not.

Mahomes gets by w/ different casts of WR's it seems. As does Josh Allen.

Terry will miss the opener before likely coming in Week 2. He’ll play out his final year and depart in free agency in 2026. We will get his replacement in free agency or the draft.

Yeah, we could franchise him but the franchise value for WR jumps up to at least $30-31 million in 26. So, if we don’t even want to pay that now; doubt we do that next year.

So, my guess 25 is Terry’s final year.
Franchise value in 2026 for a WR is 28 million . . . a second time in 2027 his number would be 32 million . . . this is from one of the team 980 guys.

The most depressing part is how being 30 is apparently being a senior citizen. Just turned 42 last month. Obviously a different profession but it's still weird.

Re: Give me your best Terry Contract

Listening to Keim and he is guessing that the team's line is 28 million.

If he's correct, yikes.

Also, the more I listen to this interview, the more my love McLaurin drops a bit.

Re: Give me your best Terry Contract

So one thing I’ve been wondering - there are reports that Terry requested a trade but I don’t see any statement, tweet or anything else from him (unless I’ve missed it). Parsons was more direct in putting it out there.

Is it possible that there wasn’t such a request, and that neither Terry or his agent are dispelling this as a way to test whether pressure will be created? And AP might not want to sent the record straight for concern that it might prompt such a demand.

The differences between Terry and the guys who demanded a trade (Parsons and Garrett) seem consequential somehow.

The trade request is just a business strategy. But it's one typically used last, outside of outright holding out, so it's not a good thing. I don't think he wants to be traded, so would make sense to kind of do it quietly.

McLaurin is one of my 10 favorite players of all times. Possibly even Top 5. It's going to suck if they can't work this out.

If the team is offering less than 29 million, can't blame Terry. 29 to 30 million it seems like a push. But if McLaurin wants more than 30m this is all on him at this point.

Yeah, I got 15 years on you, kid. But the secret is to act immaturely. Keeps you young.

McLaurin communicated with Quinn prior to the official request

Good post and spot on. AP approach is correct with Terry, it also sets the standard moving forward with other vets and contracts.

Re: Give me your best Terry Contract

you don't pay him 35$m/year because that's insanity. his value is 28-30/y (real money that gets paid out, not fake numbers to inflate a contract). They're also not going to do 4 real years of contract either.

No deal: unhappy terry making 25m and then 28m (and then 32m) without guarantees.
Deal: happier terry making ?? (something they can agree on (30ish x3?) probably mostly guaranteed).

Team perspective, they don't need to do anything, Terry doesn't hit FA till he's 33 (though $85m richer) or they choose to let him.

He's getting real (generational wealth type) money either way. The biggest advantage a deal gives him is injury insurance.

I agree with all of this, except this year with no extension his real cash is $15million.

If they are offering 50m or more guaranteed I don't see how Terry doesn't ultimately take it. If it's under 50m then maybe he "bets on himself" and plays the year, but that's a huge risk on his part - injury or declining playing time if other receivers step up. Either way he plays here this year. I hope it's on a long term extension
