Re: Commanders 2025 Offseason Thread
I can't help feeling there's a misconception that some of us are satisfied with where we are at right now. Not the case for me. I'm disappointed we didn't address Edge. But I'm not disappointed with the decisions made. When you look across the roster, I don't think there is a position that is worse today than it was at the end of the season. No we haven't improved everywhere, but we have improved overall. We need to make more moves in FA before the season starts, and then see how things shake out early. But one factor to consider is that the improvements on O, particularly the OL, will help the D out too.

There are still some decent veteran edge players out there we can sign. I'm betting we bring in one of them soon.

Re: Commanders 2025 Offseason Thread
I think it interesting to see Peters strategy of the 1 year contract.
Last year as well as this year. Can we have the same success again with this strategy? QB1 hides a lot, but Ertz and Wagner performances were vital. This year a couple guys from New England, Wil Harris safety and now Gay as the kicker all will be asked to play big roles on 1 year deals. Deebo, Lattimore are essentially on 1 year deals as well…they will be asked to lead both units. This allows a great deal of flexibility if things go south, to simply re up and move on….but in terms of team building, is it great long term? Remains to be seen. But you have to like the short term results *correction…wil Harris is 2 years, but a big out after this year

Re: Commanders 2025 Offseason Thread
JD5's performance in my mind absolutely plays a part in how AP is building this team. I believe he is building an offense to rival the greatest offenses of all time, knowing if the game is on the line we are putting the ball in the offense's (JD5's) hand. In doing that, the defense's role is different then in Philly/NY where their qb's limit the offense and they are building dominant defenses.
I liken it to Mahomes first years as starter in KC. Their defenses did just enough to win, now their defense is leaned on a lot more. I see these first 3 years as using draft as to conduct true team culture and base building by getting the best team athelete on their board regardless of team need and filling out the team with FA that fit the team concept and mold. After year 4 as JD5's $650M contract comes due, I believe we will see more attention to need through the draft with a lot less reliance on FAs. Sent from my SM-S711U using Tapatalk |

They also do not reach to fill immediate needs and I think this organization feels this way as well. I believe them when they said they took the highest rated player on their board and have no reason not to. All of your other players mentioned are either JAGS or completely unproven. McCaffery was getting opportunities and then was relegated to returning kicks. Coaches know more than fans, they see things we do not see and they obviously saw something with McCaffery. I'd be happy to be wrong here but expecting him to become a legit WR2 is speculation. Nope other than Terry and one year of Deebo I don't see how anyone can say this WR group was solid before the draft. |

As someone who put $5 On McCaffrey and $5 on Sinott each game to score a touchdown I guarantee neither of them lived up to the potential that the club hope for. Maybe one or both break out but I don't think the organization can just assume that they do.

Commanders 2025 Offseason Thread
Im not going to even consider trying to out think AP at this point. Two drafts ago our roster had more holes than a piece of swiss cheese and we were light years away from being taken seriously. Now we have one , I repeat, ONE, position in need of addressing and are fresh off a Championship game. He took a WR/Return guy in the fourth round. Both needs. He has addressed the secondary which in turn helps our current edge rushers get to the quarterback.
We were an abysmal joke of a team not long ago, now our floor is 10 wins. Can anyone remember the last time we went into a season and you thought playoffs with a straight face ? A-lot of you were not even born. Lol. |

Also, as I mentioned if he balls out (likely) we can give him a new deal. McLaurin-Deebo is a nasty 1-2 punch. Look at Philly with Brown and Smith. They don't have much after that at receiver. But clearly they didn't need it because the rest of their team and especially their defense is so good. I'd actually take our depth pieces at receiver over Philly's last year (Gallup, Noah Brown, McCaffrey, Brooks) etc. Gallup and Brown are good for at least a few hundred yds a season at receiver virtually every year they play. Do you recognize how good of production this is for a 3 a 4 wr? Our receivers were fine going into 2025 prior to the draft, and they nabbed Brooks who put up twice the amount of receiving yds that Lane did their final college seasons. I don't give a rat's ass if Lane is fast. Brooks was the better college player. You are underestimating how critical edge is to the NFL. Why do you think Philly had Mahomes on his ass the whole SB and dominated the dynasty? Sweat and all their big uglies is why. Something our team lacks and will prevent us from winning the SB this year. |

This team had no edge guys last year, and it isn’t why we didn’t win a Superbowl. We didn’t win a Superbowl because we put the ball on the ground 3 times in crucial situations. I think you are underestimating how important the rest of the team is outside edge rusher. Do we need to upgrade at the position, yes. Is this roster better than last years, yes. |

McCaffrey may never be a star, but he can still be serviceable. Please keep in mind he is fairly new to the position being a former qb. He also has good size, 4.68, hands, and excels with catches in traffic. Kids has stones. Seriously would not be surprised if this kid has a decent pro career. His father and especially brother did to say the least. |

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...oys-reach-deal He credited outside linebackers coach Ryan Kerrigan, the organization's all-time sack leader, with helping him develop more as an edge rusher. I'm not underestimating the other positions. I'm just recognizing a weakness on an otherwise loaded team. |

Well aware of his 10-1/2 sacks and the fact he is gone. Well aware of the fact that Dante Fowler coming back isn’t putting us over the top. Once again, this team was one giant hole before AP got here. Now there is one. AP didn’t reach , he went bpa and im all for it. Watch what our improved secondary does for whoever rushes the edge this year. |

Totally recognize that AP is doing a great job. Today's SB teams cannot have any weaknesses is the issue, and we have one. I'm frustrated because it hasn't been sufficiently addressed, and I am concerned our defense won't be good enough. I will be more optimistic about the ultimate goal if I see improvements and additions here but it is late in the offseason game. Wagner is 1 year older, Fowler Jr. is gone, Allen is gone, Chinn is gone, and many feel they reached on Kinlaw. Secondary can only hold on so long with modern day pro receivers. |

Re: Commanders 2025 Offseason Thread
Fowler was great depth, produced fantasticly last year. Pissed he went to the cowgirls. Team had/has other plans would say best of luck but that doesn't apply next season.
Cant wait til edge is fine, lane balls out and we have a solid season and everyone is happy lmao - wishful thinking HAIL
