It's hard to see Steelers firing Tomlin. Yes, the playoff records for the last 8 years isn't good but then we have to remember that Tomlin had to deal with multiple injuries and/or weak QB, and yet he didn't have a losing season. Even Belichick cannot top that.

Steelers are rarely in position to draft top QB, this is the only downside to constant winning. At some point, Steelers will have to trade up to draft a QB.

Not firing but Steelers and Tomlin come to a conclusion that it’s better to part ways. The Steelers feeling they ridden the Tomlin train as far as they can, they need their 4th head coach since 1969. Tomlin decides he needs a new challenge, that he’s done all he can in Pittsburgh.

So, if thus happens; it would be mutual thing. They did give him an extension but the owner is starting to get tired of not winning in the playoffs. They won’t fire him but they agree it’s best to part ways. The draft compensation can help them get that qb . Maybe not in 25, but 26.
