Re: Fresh Start Political Thread
CRT revisited.
From the WSJ (Which by the way is one of the very few media outlets that have maintained a good reputation - being attacked regularly by both the Trump and woke mobs helps with that). "...............The ideology has sparked an immense backlash. As Americans have sought to understand critical race theory, they have discovered that it has divided Americans into racial categories of “oppressor” and “oppressed” and promotes radical concepts such as “spirit murder” (what public schools supposedly do to black children) and “abolishing whiteness” (a purported precondition for social justice). In the classroom, critical race theory-inspired lessons have often devolved into race-based struggle sessions, with public schools forcing children to rank themselves according to a racial hierarchy, subjecting white teachers to “antiracist therapy,” and encouraging parents to become “white traitors.” Alarmed state legislators have pushed back. In recent months, lawmakers in 24 states have introduced, and six have enacted, legislation banning public schools from promoting critical race theory’s core concepts, including race essentialism, collective guilt and racial superiority. Parent groups around the country have mobilized to oppose critical race theory in the classroom, arguing that it cultivates shame in white students and fatalism in minority students. According to a recent YouGov survey, of the 64% of Americans who have heard about critical race theory, 58% view it unfavorably, including 72% of political independents. That’s a major liability for the political left. Sensing that they are losing control of the narrative on race, left-leaning media outlets have launched a furious counterattack. Liberal pundits at the New York Times , Washington Post, MSNBC and elsewhere have begun spinning a new mythology that presents critical race theory as a benign academic concept, casts its detractors as right-wing extremists driven by racial resentment, and portrays legislation against critical race theory as an attempt to ban teaching about the history of slavery and racism. All three charges are false........." https://www.wsj.com/articles/battle-...nion_lead_pos5 Last edited by nonniey; 06-29-2021 at 01:09 PM. |

Re: Fresh Start Political Thread
Trying to forget or actively ignoring the ugly history in this country doesn't make it go away. It's a complicated issue, but one that's clearly being politicized to fire up the masses.

Re: Fresh Start Political Thread
right wing is pumping the "critical race theory" up as much as they did "defund the police" ... its all just scare tactics to keep their white country base convinced they and their god loving country is being replaced.
And it is ... white bible hugging conservatives are already the minority and but for gerrymandering and the way senators are allocated, they already be the powerless minority. Give it 20-30 years and the bible hugging, abortion obsessed demographic will go from minority to the powerless voiceless minority. Its why they clinge to Trump so hard .. their last great white hope. |

No one is proposing history being ignored or banned (Heck other than all history being ignored which seems to be the default in K-12 the last 30 years which laid the ground work that enabled CRT proponents to push their execrable revision). So New York Times versus Wall Street Journal - One paper has maintained a good reputation one hasn't - who you going to believe at this point? Last edited by nonniey; 06-29-2021 at 03:11 PM. |

I cant view this NY Times or the WSJ opinion piece as its behind a pay wall but its clearly marked OPINION which should be read with a grain of salt Christopher Rufo, the writer of the WSJ opinion piece is a right wing activist who worked for Heritage Foundation, does the Carlson/Ingraham talking circuit etc ... seems to be trying to anchor himself into the money making right wing echo chamber talking circuit and has targeted critical race theory as his drum to beat. Christopher Rufo opinion piece does not equal WSJ credibility or integrity |

I didn't realize the WSJ article was by Rufo. That cracks me up. He's the one that essentially lit the fire under this CRT BS.

regular news is slanted enough ... im good with categorizing "opinion pieces" as opinion pieces and not treating them like a neutral news source. |

He’s accepted all invitations to talk about the issue….and does so like a normal human being while getting yelled out by clowns such as joy Reid. He’s not a political operative. If you want to understand the issue -many do not - i suggest reading what he has to say and what he has actually found. You then can understand why school officials will lie about what they are trying to do.

Re: Fresh Start Political Thread
lol what a joke
The GOP is clearly setting this up as a rallying cry for 2022. I mean it's so obvious. Oh and he wants your money too of course @realchrisrufo P.S. I am fighting against critical race theory through investigative reporting, policy advocacy, and legal warfare. If you want to support this work, you can make a $5 or $10 monthly contribution here: |

funny thing is ... does any public school have a CRT course? It seems like its a theology, a thought to be discussed in some college Sociology class. Listening to republicans and right wing echo chamber .. Id swear my 9 year is being told "white people bad" at her public school. Now Im sure we can find some granola too woke private charter school doing some dumb over the top racial sensitivity exercise ... but I highly doubt Florida and Texas public schools are forcing 13 year olds to take "Critical Race Theory" before math and after social studies. its just weird. |
