Prior to knocking off the greatest team in NFL history, Eli went into Dallas and Green Bay and beat 2 very, very good teams also in the playoff run.

He also beat a 13-3 New England team in 2012 to bring home a 2nd Lombardi throwing for nearly 300 yards and playing better than Tom Brady.

In both years, he did enough to get his team to the playoffs and bring home 2 Lombardis. He's a 4x Pro Bowler who was also extremely durable. What he did in both Super Bowl runs is absolutely legendary. Him being a Hall of Famer is not even a question. It is a certainty.
Woof. I was pretty solidly against his jersey being retired, but now you wanna argue the HOF is a certainty?

Ya'll fuckers crazy. You let Eli in the HOF and every other statistically average QB with 1-2 titles is gonna want in.

I'll move the goalposts on this one, you can retire his jersey and plaster his derp face all over NY but helllllllllll no if he wants to be in the HOF he can buy a ticket like the rest of us.

Read my post above. Peter King and the NY media will make sure Eli makes the Hall.

2 SB wins against golden boy Brady will get him in. Plus the Manning name helps too. I think he's all but certain to get in even though I think a strong case against him can certainly be made. Like a .500 overall regular season record, but whatever. It's just how this works.

Both games. You gonna retire David Tyree's # too? Because I would argue without him Manning only has 1 ring.

The man is absolutely deserving of the ring-of-fame, or whatever the Giants equivalent is. But retiring a number? For a mildly-above average qb (and that's being complimentary) who had many average seasons despite the talent around him?

The Giants are basically saying you can be an average player who does 10-15 years and helps win a couple titles and that's good enough to have your jersey retired.

Name recognition strikes again - first it plagues the Pro Bowl, now this. This is how it starts.

#1 No QB or player ever does it by himself ,it's a team sport but he did get voted MVP ,twice for the biggest game of the season.

#2..Check the stats , he is in the top ten of all QB records , like it or not.

#3 , "10-15 years" ,...in the NFL, as a QB? You act like anyone can do it .Yes he's a Manning but a Manning whom played for 16 years won two Super Bowls and was voted MVP of both games ,your arguments don't hold up.

Former Washington Football Team running back Derrius Guice had four misdemeanor charges, including three counts of assault and battery, against him dropped Wednesday morning after a settlement was reached with his ex-girlfriend.

Probably the last time I hear or think of this guy again.

I hate your “Giant” truths.

But, unlike the current counter culture, I face truths as they are, not as I would like them to be.

Your argument rings true in my ears.

But that's the thing, no one cares or remembers the regular season. There are so many professional athletes that play great in the regular season and choke when it's on the line. Heck it happened last night with Paul George (know it's NBA). Anyway, there are few qbs who could have done what Eli did: beating the greatest team in NFL history and the greatest qb in NFL history not once but twice in the Super Bowl.

No one gives a crap about his regular season record man. Do you think anyone remembers the 2007 Giants with 6 losses in the regular season? Of course not. Everyone knows what they are remembered for.

Case closed. He's in.

Yeah I said he's in. But any case against him will include his .500 record and go from there. Not that it will matter though.

First I remember JJ and yes I think he should be in but I admit I don't know why you thing Peter King is holding it up?

Peter King has said that Jacoby doesn’t deserve to be in because he gave up a couple sacks to a coked up LT in the 86 NFC Championship. He also kept Art Monk out of the Hall for years because “he was a possession receiver on a running team and didn’t have a signature play in any of the Super Bowls he was in”. Basically he’s a Giants homer who hates the Skins and was a vocal opponent of the name and uses his influence in the reporting world against the Redskins.

His regular season record could have been better, and he did throw a lot of picks but his overall body of work warrants entrance. He was never given enough recognition for durability and arm strength. He never played scared and played to win. It worked with 2 rings.

Re: Around the NFL: NFL Offseason

Take away the 2 rings though and he's very likely not in. His regular season stats were good to pretty good over a long period of time. He was never considered to be elite. Can't take away the rings though obviously, the postseason will punch his HOF ticket.

He should have the defensive line up there during his speech as they are the reason the Giants won those two games.

Big part yes, as I said no one does it by themselves .You must remember it just wasn't those two games ,it was the run up to and including those games .
