Re: Around the NFL: NFL Offseason
I always thought he never got enough recognition due to being under Peyton's shadow. He did throw a lot of picks. But, he also had a cannon for an arm and put up lots of yards for a pretty long time. Extremely humble too.

Re: Around the NFL: NFL Offseason
Hopefully more players will be comfortable to follow his lead until it's commonplace and truly is no big deal.

The NFL from the top down forgives a lot of things if you have talent. You can beat your wife, murder dogs, murder people, rape women, etc. but as long as you're talented you will get a second chance. The only reason I can see this hurting Nassib in the long run is because the NFL is still a somewhat homophobic place - although it's come a long way. No doubt there will be players that try to get under Nassib's skin and if you look at the comments on his Instagram - although 90% of them are positive - there are still some people out there leaving hateful comments on his page. Still, no doubt Nassib wouldn't have done this if he wasn't mostly comfortable with his team and the guys in the locker room. Like everyone else has said hopefully the day will come when this isn't even newsworthy anymore.

#1, he didn't do it single-handedly. He was surrounded by great talent - mainly on the defensive line that was the main reason Brady was held in check - and the offense did just enough to win. Both games. You gonna retire David Tyree's # too? Because I would argue without him Manning only has 1 ring. The man is absolutely deserving of the ring-of-fame, or whatever the Giants equivalent is. But retiring a number? For a mildly-above average qb (and that's being complimentary) who had many average seasons despite the talent around him? The Giants are basically saying you can be an average player who does 10-15 years and helps win a couple titles and that's good enough to have your jersey retired. Name recognition strikes again - first it plagues the Pro Bowl, now this. This is how it starts.

If he's in the conversation, Flacco would have to be too...

He also beat a 13-3 New England team in 2012 to bring home a 2nd Lombardi throwing for nearly 300 yards and playing better than Tom Brady. In both years, he did enough to get his team to the playoffs and bring home 2 Lombardis. He's a 4x Pro Bowler who was also extremely durable. What he did in both Super Bowl runs is absolutely legendary. Him being a Hall of Famer is not even a question. It is a certainty. |

Re: Around the NFL: NFL Offseason
No problem w/ NY retiring Eli's number or putting him in their ROF. Just don't put him in the HOF.

On top of his stats (which should be enough) he was the face of NY for more than a decade and made a huge impact on the franchise as a whole. Eli was the king of the derps but he’s deserving of the accolades.

Re: Around the NFL: NFL Offseason
Sorry no Eli for the HOF until Jacoby is in. Oh that’s right Peter King will continue to make sure Joe doesn’t get in but will make sure Eli is in on the first ballot.
