Greatest Pie Ever!
In yet another glorious chapter of my endless quest to locate the best pie on the planet, today I stumbled upon the most heavenly, scrumptralescent coconut cream pie I've ever had the pleasure of feasting upon.
Some of you may recall that only a short month ago, I declared the coconut cream pie offered up by Paul's Bakery in Fredericksburg as the "Pie of All Pies". Indeed, that delectable little slice of heaven-in-a-pastry had me daydreaming of idyllic, sun-drenched beaches and swaying palms for about a week. But I tell you here today, my dear Warpath brethren, that mind-blowing tropical indulgence was a mere dalliance compared to the plateful of paradisical pleasure I presented to my palate upon this perfect day, here on the peaceful shores of Nags Head, North Carolina. The new "Pie of ALL Pies" title is hereby bestowed upon the coconut cream pie offered by "Tortuga's Lie", near milepost 11 in Nags Head, North Carolina. That is all.

Re: Greatest Pie Ever!
I think we need to get pie gallery going here, check this out, Toll House Pie, now that's what I'm talkin about!
Ingredients 2 large eggs 1/2 cup all-purpose flour 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1/2 cup packed brown sugar 3/4 cup (1-1/2 sticks) butter, softened 1 cup (6 ounces) NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels 1 cup chopped nuts 1 unbaked 9-inch (4-cup volume) deep-dish pie shell* Sweetened whipped cream or ice cream (optional) *If using frozen pie shell, use deep-dish style, thawed completely. Bake on baking sheet; increase baking time slightly. BEAT eggs in large mixer bowl on high speed until foamy. Beat in flour, granulated sugar and brown sugar. Beat in butter. Stir in morsels and nuts. Spoon into pie shell. BAKE for 55 to 60 minutes or until knife inserted halfway between outside edge and center comes out clean. Cool on wire rack. Serve warm with whipped cream. |
