Suspending someone for different colored socks would be just plain stupid. The uproar from the fans and players union alone is enough to keep them from ever trying it. Plus, it's easy money. Why suspend someone, and create a media circus and massive headache, when you can make a quick 20k in fines, that even the player could care less about.

They don't really make the money. It's donated to charities, making it an even BETTER reason for Portis and Taylor to wear them.

Fines finally handed out

Redskins RB C.Portis has been fined $20,000 by the NFL for violations of the league's uniform code during Sunday night's victory over the Eagles, and S S.Taylor was hit with a $5,000 fine for wearing unauthorized socks.
