Concerning the trade values: If we trade a 3rd Rounder to KC and pick up a 3rd Round compensatory pick for losing KC, isn't that a wash on the picks? So we only gave up Kendall Fuller in trade for Smith. How is that a bad trade?
Time value of money (pick) makes a 2018 3rd > 2019 3rd

not insanely but still not equal.

All that being said I was pissed about this last night but have since come around. I think that Smith will be better in Jay's system than KC was and this gives us freedom in the draft (my hope is move back 6-8 spots pick up another 2nd and draft Lamar Jackson to groom) and plenty of money to resign Breeland. and or Zach Brown. Breeland is equal to fuller if not better and we are DEEP at CB.

I'm dumb when it comes to how guaranteed money affects the cap, but that being said, does the deal with Alex Smith free up money to possibly re-sign guys like Zach Brown?

I'm no cap expert but I did see Albert Breer say yes it helps and they can go get a couple guys in FA now

It says 71 mil guaranteed but does that mean fully? We won't know until March 14th. It will be less cap space than what we would have had to sign KC for however.

Just reading this now. I think you're thinking in terms of a signing bonus. Guaranteed money doesn't have to be up front. It can be stretched out or back loaded. If Smith is getting $23.5M each season, all guaranteed, then that's only $23.5M where as Cousins would have wanted at least $30M OR the tag at $34M.

Yeah without the specifics yet we don't know what the cap hit will be for the seasons but like you said with your example I think it will be less of a cap hit than what we had if we signed KC.

your trying to say that a slot CB as good as he was this year who had one good year is better than a four year starting outside CB? You are delusional and in shock.

Not only Im I saying that, Im also saying his pedigree and potential is probowler. He showed this year why he was considered a 1st round talent coming out of Va Tech. Guy is a physical baller.

Fuller is already a better player than Breeland. Also, Breeland isn't a good locker room dude, he has an attitude issue.

Don't forget we will only get that 2019 3rd rounder if we don't sign FA that end up negating it in the off season. There is a chance we might not get it.
