yeah I think my initial 8.5-9.5 million is probably off...a little high. But I certainly think 7-7.5 per year on a 3 year contract is good value. Locker room - team leader type who has worked hard and every year has gotten better. I think he certainly has at least 2 more years of solid play left. If we handed him a 3 year 22-23 million contract, that would solidify a DT/DE position along a D-Line which was quite frankly bottom 5 in the league. Baker was really the only playmaker on the line. Ricky Jean, Ziggy are decent rotation DE-types, but are not starters.

To me, its gonna be hard to let the only real starter leave. We are then talking 3 new starters on the Dline alone. And don't give me Ionnadis or Lanier...they clearly arent starters yet.

Re: Redskins Free Agents List

I'm not over paying for Baker either. But a solid 3yr 22/23 mil type of contract with a decent signing bonus of say 2mil would be max.

Of the guys we have Hood and RJ are the best of the bunch.

Questions remain with no DC in house, and which d will we run 4-3 or 3-4 I think we were in a nickel look 65-70% of the time. We did find some success with our NASCAR type package with Murphy and RK on the outside and Baker and Smith on the inside, but that isn't a big enough group for 3 downs and stopping the run.

Re: Redskins Free Agents List

If we run a 3-4 again Baker is a perfect DE for the scheme. Any team running a 3-4 will pay him. He played really well this season, his presence alone, and he could play 4-3 DT which will increase his value. He's our guy.. why let him walk?

Yea Baker wont fit in a 4-3 scheme very well. Same reason he was cut in Seattle.

Did you take it as that? I took it as he was posting a old pic of them being at a game, and saying they NEED to get to a Caps game to work on a contract

Not sure if anyone mentioned Jason Pierre-Paul, but he may not be resigned by the Giants.

Re: Redskins Free Agents List

For me, Cousins has to be resigned and if he'll take a $23M average deal, the cap can take it.
DJax would be nice but he's off to Philly.
I'd keep Baker on $8M. He's not only a good player, he's a leader and very emotive player. Just what Gruden likes and the team needs.
Garcon is worth keeping if we can get $7.5M average. He's coming off a 1000y season why would you not try to resign him?
Davis likewise. Proved he's over his 49ers slump and really seems to like it here. Probably get a cap friendly deal too.
Galette could be a bust if he's hurt again or he could be a Tim Hightower revelation. For what he's likely to cost after 2 years out, I'm betting he's a cap friendly bargain.
Ihenacho would be good for depth, but not at starter money. We need to draft at least one S as there is pretty much zilch in FA, so he's worth keeping as insurance.
Sullivan I'd keep as a solid backup.
Rest are either r friendly deals or gone.

How's it work with RFA's? Don't we get compensation if they sign elsewhere?

Re: Redskins Free Agents List

Market or not, would you pay $20 million plus for a game manager if that's what you perceive Kirk Cousins? It's a valid question.

Your mistaking him for the TE I think.

Re: Redskins Free Agents List

Impending free agent LG Ronald Leary said it was "exciting to be able to play ball again" down the stretch this season.

Leary was limited to four starts last season and opened this season on the bench behind La’el Collins, but an injury to Collins allowed him to start 13 games including the Divisional Round loss to the Packers. "Going into the season I didn’t think I was going to be playing at all," Leary said. "So I’m glad I was able to remind people I could play ball." The Cowboys are unlikely to re-sign Leary with Collins waiting in the wings, but he should have no shortage of suitors on the open market.

this is one we should at for LG

I think we should go with the kid from Alabama. That's why he was drafted.

He hasn't shown enough imo...When I look at the Oline, we have drafted well and developed at every position. This core area would be a good example of when Free agency can be used to solidify the unit and bring in an established baller to go to the next level, instead of bitching and complaining the entire next season of why Kujo hasn't developed and is a continuous turnstile.

We just need one player to form this Oline like Voltron, lets stop fiddling in doubt and just make a strong move.
