NFL Logic

"Everybody in the league kept calling down to our sideline saying that I didn't cover the brace up," Griffin said after the 33-27 home loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. "I don't understand that one, but that's why we had to continue to do some stuff to cover the brace up with my sock."

Re: NFL Logic

Joe Staley getting flagged for getting in Matthews' face; DeSean Jackson doesn't get flagged for shoving DHall right in front of the ref.

Re: NFL Logic

Jackson should have been flagged no doubt.

Re: NFL Logic

Didnt Dhall slap him? And Dhall has gotten away with some slaps before so as long as the refs are consistent, no problem with the no calls

That's because it's not really enforced unless the teams complain about it. Those teams facing Houston and Arizona didn't complain. The Eagles on the other hand DID complain, hence is why they were telling Robert he had to cover his brace.

DHall didn't slap him. One thing is getting away with it, another is committing a PF right in front of the ref.

Hall tackled him by the collar out of bounds. He kind of latched on in bounds and hung on, Against the rules yes, but not horribly egregious.

Jackson shoved him down and started acting like a thug.

And then there's this:

DeSean Jackson throws up Crips gang sign at DeAngelo Hall

So the league is going to tolerate THAT after the whole Hernandez saga went down? Nice.

Out of curiosity, is there some reason it has to be covered up? And do you know why they kept complaining?

I'm ignorant here...

Dumb way to enforce the rules if you ask me. Either it's a rule or it isn't. I'm sure RGIII didn't have better things to worry about than covering his brace.

Re: NFL Logic

Turns out, it was all B.S. RGIII did NOT have to have his brace covered. Mystery solved.
NFL says Griffin didn't have to cover brace | Comcast SportsNet Washington
Griffin was asked why he made the change after the game. “Everybody in the league kept calling down to our sideline saying I needed to cover the brace up,” Griffin said. “I don’t understand that one.

Apparently the NFL didn’t understand it either. According to a league spokesman, Griffin being told to cover up the knee brace was a “miscommunication”.

The spokesman clarified the policy, saying that players have the option of wearing knee braces either inside or outside of the uniform pants.

“But that’s why we had to continue to do some stuff to cover the brace up with my sock. It was the same brace,” said Griffin. It just looked bigger because they kept putting stuff over it.”

As it turns out of that was unnecessary. But being told to do it didn’t surprise Griffin.

“Man, I don’t know what the league’s doing,” Griffin said. “I got fined 10 grand for a shirt. I mean, I don’t know.”

Well....that explains some things. Judging from the....donnybrook from the sidelines, I thought Robert might be wearing a codpiece........

I agree too. As you pointed out, it was in fact wrong, and they should have never told him to cover it up. They should give him 10K for the equipment snafu.
