● LeRibeus, who was drafted in the third round in 2012 to eventually anchor the interior of the line as a guard or center, has struggled quite a bit this camp. He missed all the offseason practices with injury, so is still working his way back into football shape, as Shanahan likes to say. But he has yet to appear to make strides forward. He has worked exclusively at left guard in practices, and no longer at center, as he did last training camp and in practices during the regular season until Lichtensteiger got hurt. Kevin Matthews seems to have replaced LeRibeus as Will Montgomery’s backup.

I confess I am disappointed. You'd like to see a 3rd round OL take steps to improve and contribute, but it sounds like he's regressing. I hope it is just that he's recovering from injury, and not that he's not going about his business like a professional and putting in the hard work. Our OL was remarkably healthy last year, and we cannot assume we'll have such good fortune this year, which means we need the non-starters to really step up so there's no massive drop off.
he was a 6th round pick taken in the 3rd round. i was scratching my head when they made that pick and won't be too shocked if he doesn't pan out.

it sucks, but not every pick is a winner.

Reed Doughty quote from a Washington Times article on the Rookie DB's:

“We’ve added a lot of young guys over the years, but these guys are really talented,” he said. “They seem to be grasping the concepts really quickly. My job is just to help them out as quick as I can, and I think they’ll surprise some people.”

Now that's what I like to hear! I can hardly wait to see them play in the exhibition games.

I wonder if Reed could have coaching in his future?

I also felt that he was drafted too high.

This year, he came into camp fat and out of shape. He has some talent but if he doesn't want an NFL career enough to push himself away from the table and get to work then someone else will take his job.

Adios. Next man up!

Reed could easily be a coach. He, Rex, Josh Wilson, and maybe Santana Moss are considered the most knowledgeable on the team in terms of being able to understand and explain plays/formations, etc.

As for LeRib, he and Gettis both have to step it up and differentiate themselves from the rest of the pack. I think the team will have a bit more patience with Josh though. I don't see him going anywhere

That said, this regime (outside Trent Williams) hasn't really done a good job with drafting OL and developing them...yet

The reports on LeRibeus are disappointing for sure, but it's still too early to give up on the guy. He needs to get serious and step it the hell up.

REED has been dogged a bunch on here (me included) but he gained major props last year by busting his ass every game. He's a true team guy

I'm not sure why people are so down on Reed. He's a limited player physically but always plays hard, gives everything he has and is the most sound tackler we have. I can respect a guy like that. He's never going to be Sean Taylor.

I think because so many times in the past we have seen opposing WRs catch bombs in the end zone and Reed is stumbling behind them.

to be fair, when poor scheme or poor execution leaves reed 1 on 1 w andre johnson for a jump ball . . . .andre is going to come down with it.

Reed seems to always be in the right spot at the right time but hes just an inch to short and a step to slow on some plays. physically he has no business being in the NFL but his iq and dedication keep him earning a paycheck.

i like reed, he reminds me of bowen.
