Re: NFL Top 100 of 2013

what players actually voted for this?

tony romo said he didnt and he doesnt know of any cowboys who did or even knew about this "player only"voting ballot.

chris canty also said he didnt vote, doesnt know anyone that voted and that he didnt even hear of this list until it came out and reporters started asking about it.

The claim is 487 players voted. If you take 53 man rosters, that's about 9 teams. If you take starting 22, that's 22 teams. Like Matty said, if they are going to do this, they ought to lay out some reasonably solid methodology. I love that Griffin came in 15th, but without knowing how voters were selected it loses a lot of luster. Of course romo is just spitting sour grapes - insert ballot interception joke here.

Should they? Yes they should.

Will they? No, because Vilma made it last year when the whole Bounty thing came out. Also there was a good chance that Trent Williams didn't make the list had Ray Lewis of not retired and Ronde Barber. They said that Ronde Barber would have been 65 (I believe: somewhere in the 60s I remember them saying) and I'm sure had Ray of played another season they players would have voted for him just because its Ray Lewis (hell Ed Reed had a good but not Ed Reed great season last year and only dropped 2 spots, still staying in the top 20). Since Trent was 99, that means he would have been gone (as well as Dennis Pitta who was 100, and somehow is 'better' than Jimmy Graham, who was left off the list)

Re: NFL Top 100 of 2013

Top 10 players in the NFL by the players:

1. Adrian Peterson
2. Peyton Manning
3. Calvin Johnson
4. Tom Brady
5. JJ Watt
6. Aaron Rodgers
7. Aldon Smith
8. Arian Foster
9. Von Miller
10. Patrick Willis

I completely disagree with Aldon Smith being ranked that high. He was a completely different when Justin Smith got injured and got no sacks when he left. Justin Smith holds OLineman free so Aldon can get sacks. Aldons good, but not better than Patrick Willis, Von Miller, DeMarcus Ware and Cameron Wake.

Amazing how much interest I lost in this once I heard Griffin's spot.

No surprise with AP being #1 considering the type of season he had coming off that injury. Rodgers is too low and would be my only real complaint. Otherwise it's just splitting hairs when you get into the top 10.

I agree with you about Aldon Smith. Also, I think Arian Foster is ranked a little high. They put him over Jamaal Charles and Marshawn Lynch? Putting Foster over Alfred Morris I can understand, since Foster is the better all-around back and Morris is so young.

I think Manning is better than Brady. Peyton Manning was the fastest QB in NFL history to reach 1,000; 2,000; 3,000; and 4,000 completions. But since Brady was a back-up to start his career let's look at other stats.

Peyton Manning in 2012: 400 completions, 68.6%, 4,659 yards, 37 TDs, 105.8 rating.

Tom Brady in 2012: :401 completions, 63.0%, 4,827 yards, 34 TDs, 98.7 rating.

The only area where Brady has an advantage is yards, but everywhere else Manning is better. Brady obviously has more Super Bowl wins, but I still think that Manning is the superior quarterback.

Re: NFL Top 100 of 2013

Manning had a better year than Brady. He deserved to be higher. I thought JJ Watt should have been 2 or 3, but he plays defense and no one likes defensive players no matter how dominate they were. I do not understand how Aldon Smith is number 7. Him being over Von Miller is a joke. Basically the only reason Aldon Smith is on the list because the Bears oline was a joke last year. I didn't even know he was playing this past postseason. This list was kind of bad this year

PFT’s Top 100, 76-100 | ProFootballTalk

Profootballtalk is coming out with their own top 100 list, interesting to see some of the not so popular players make the list.
