I get so tired of everyone around here crying about getting more sacks and not looking at the big picture. We got more sacks. BIG DEAL. We gave up more points and more big plays so who cares?
I think the distinction here is actually quarterback pressure. For years it seemed like our D wasn't even getting close to rattling the QB. He would have all day to throw, and without getting any sort of pressure it didn't translate into errant throws and hence, we didn't get many turnovers.

This year the pressure was better, but other parts of the D fell off.

A missed pass here...not moving up in the pocket in the first Giants game and allow Umehyoura to get around Samuels 15 yards behind the line of scrimmage to know the ball out and run it back for a TD when a simple move up in the pocket would have meant a completed pass for the Skins instead of a td for the Giants. Jason is not a great QB and he will be a backup for the rest of his life, regardless if somebody starts him for a game or 2.
Why thank you for the compliment. Warms my heart.

Look, JC isn't my favorite QB of all time, but i made the same argument for Brad Johnson when HE left and did great things. Regardless of the player you wish to blame, there are usually a LOT of big mistakes that make a team lose. Of COURSE JC had a part in our 4-12 season, but to use it as a QB statistic is still inacurate jsut like giving Brady all the credit for the superbowls won on Vinetari's foot.

NFL Videos: Saints 33, Redskins 30

Watch this clip and think... If Devon Thomas played like this all season, how many wins would we have? If we let Laron be more like Sean Taylor and had a more Ryan clark like person behind him, maybe he would have more GOOD highlights and fewer Roger's like coverage mistakes. If we had a better man that whoever that Moore chump is, then maybe the backfield would be as solid as the d-line and backers that made the saints running attack look like crap and render Reggie Bush useless. You see JC making quick reads and gettign the ball out, only THIS time Thomas is CATCHING them instead of flailing his arms and then falling. You may even think, Hmm... did our kicker just miss the wimpiest of chip shots?

Landry aint the best, but he's better than the others on the squad. We need another Safety, but to drop him will only make us need two. We haev enough needs than to just add another.

Oh, and stop exaggerating how many plays Albert misses and stop saying he's always on his back. Don't pretend Carter went from crap to sack-master on his own. Don't pretend that orakpo got his 11 alone either. Haynesworth was right about our defense and he's right about how he's used. You call it a complaint and pretend he's done it a lot. I call it one time of speaking your mind being turned into 'something to talk about'.

Oh... and don't forget that Sellers fumble in the end that ended what would/could/should've been Jason's big comeback win.

I'm not sensing any mending of fences, more like throwing someone under it.

Especially not now that the Skins switched to a defense that doesn't really suit his talents.

I like it. Maybe they are just saying they were thrown into the talks to give them a little hint to step the eff up and play ball. Both seem like they need a little kick in the ass every now and then to get straight again.

Well, now I'm really interested. I'd like to see either of these guys end up in Washington, regardless of what happens with Okung. I also don't think it would be the end of the world if Bulaga or Williams were the pick, but I'd take Bushrod and a 2, put him at RT and start the rookie at LT.

The problem is the Skins sign these guys to outrageous contracts that make them impossible to trade because no team wants to take on that kind on contractual burden.

What I've heard is something like Rogers for Brown, or Rogers and I think Montgomery for Bushrod and a 3rd or 4th. I think Haynesworth is just an internet rumor

and landry and kelly for brandon marshall

sometimes the font just isn't small enough, huh? trading for brandon marshall was one of the first things i thought we'd do after signing mcnabb, although i think it would require more than landry and kelly to get marshall. not sure id want to give up more for him than that, though. the idea of having marshall and thomas on the outside with tana in the slot is pretty sick, though. anything out there about trading one of our TEs?

thanks for posting brown and bushrod's player profiles. is there a reason neither of them show up on the teams roster page on nfl.com? (thats where i looked) also, how would either of them do in shanahan's scheme? personally, id rather do rogers and monty for bushrod and a 3rd/4th. he's younger and i'd love to have the 3rd or 4th.

I'd actually do pretty much any of those in a heartbeat. Rogers for Brown or Rogers and Montgomery for Bushrod and a pick definitely makes both teams better. I'd be excited as both a Skins and Saints fan over either of those.

I will say that I'd rather not give up Landry and Kelly for Marshall because I think that it's selling low on two guys who could really have a resurgence/impact with the new regime, but I wouldn't hate the deal either.

I'm taking a "wait and see" approach with everything Shanahallen is doing right now, but I'd be encouraged if they can get Okung at 4 or trade back and get a pick in 2-4 range and still get Bulaga/Williams and trade Rogers & Montgomery for Bushrod (who I think would be a very good RT) and a pick.

I'd be extremely happy with that. Get Mccoy or Suh with the 4th pick to replace Albert and quality left tackle plus a 2nd round pick! I'd love that.

Good discussion here: Jammal Brown for Albert Haynesworth???? - SaintsReport Community Forums
