TW was an idiot of failing a test for pot. He also bounced back and has been the ultimate team guy and has gone from a quiet guy in the locker room to a team leader who sets an example for everyone around him to follow by giving maximum effort and playing hurt. Gordon is a whole different situation: Report: Josh Gordon applies to the league for reinstatement | ProFootballTalk 3rd substance abuse incident in the NFL, and a history of pot infractions in college. People believe in 2nd chances, maybe even third depending on maturity and the nature of the bad act, but when a dude can't put down a bottle of liquor or a joint for millions of dollars he is not worth a look from the team. Some might say comparing him to TW is like apples and broccoli.

it just doesn't seem like a smart move. I don't think we're a super fit for him either, we're not desperate for a WR and we'd only offer incentive laden deals and limited snaps. stranger things have happened i guess, but i'd bet against this. |

Re: Josh Gordon applies for reinstatment
He's the type of player you all would say pass too but...
He'll land with the Patriots and dominate the league like he certainly will once he hits the field. Though I have to say we don't have much luck with high risk players.

Re: Josh Gordon applies for reinstatment
if he wanted to show up here for basically a $0 contract, i definitely wouldn't turn him down. but i wouldn't risk actual cap on him. no one can say he can't play.

Re: Josh Gordon applies for reinstatment
A true #1 WR can change a offense.
Gordon is a bunch of other things...druggie, unreliable, makes dumb decisions etc...but he's also a true #1 WR. I would be willing to roll the dice on this guy. |

Re: Josh Gordon applies for reinstatment
Why would you roll the dice with a character issue guy on this squad? Rather pay for a number 1, high character like Ashlon Jeffery.

Re: Josh Gordon applies for reinstatment
I was on the Josh Gordon band wagon earlier this year and still am. The guy is a knucklehead, and I trust SM to make the judgement on whether or not to keep him so I wont lament if we pass.
Talent-wise, this could be one of those random SM picks that pay dividends. If we don't have (or make) the flexibility to keep both (Pierre and DJAX)- I think it's worth the gamble. There is something about this locker room that I think JG would be able to thrive in (especially if he gets that taste of winning in his mouth). Low risk, high reward if you ask me.

Re: Josh Gordon applies for reinstatment
If the Browns cut him, and Scot were to have a face to face with him like he did with Galette, and signed him to a prove it type of deal, I'd say bring it on.
