He was certainly looked at a little differently. Give him one more year before we start calling for serious trades. Offering up Haynesworth was definately an option, but only as a measure to keep our draft picks.

The problem is the Skins sign these guys to outrageous contracts that make them impossible to trade because no team wants to take on that kind on contractual burden.

Hard to imagine someone else wanting Haynesworth with that contract he's under.

why? we've already paid him 40 of the 42M he's garaunteed. he's very affordable (relatively speaking) for the next 3 years.

His numbers the next 3 years are $8.8M, $10.6M, $12.4M.

Not sure I'd call him very affordable. Those are big chunks to go along with a guy that doesn't have the best reputation and tends to get banged up.

i think those numbers accurately reflect Haynesworth's value in the NFL. If anything, i'd say his 2010 and 2011 numbers are a little light for one of the leagues top pass-rushers.

I wonder, is there any sub-30 yr old o lineman out there with a similarly ridiculous contract that maybe because of scheme or whatever, doesn't fit in with his current team? That's really the only way I can see us moving Haynesworth, if we can swap equally ridiculous contracts...

Re: Fences to Mend?

All I can say is it speaks VOLUMES on the way they feel about Haynesworth if they attempted to trade him only one year after signing him.

-OR- the more likely scenario>>>>>>>

Hey, it is a non-cap season and a perfect time to shed away lots of lingering dollars. Maybe the decision was purely financial?

I don't know. AH and the HC appeared to agree to dissagree on work out regimin. If AH wants to be with the team he'd be here working out. Instead he's taking his work ethic elsewhere which pissed off the HC.

No harm in sending the love right back at AH. Right? Piss him off maybe he'll work harder. Especially knowing the Eagles wanted no parts of him. It would atleast make me want to tear them apart next year to say see what you didn't want.

I honestly feel that this is being blown WAYYYY out of proportion. I mean when Shawn Springs disappeared during voluntary workouts, the team couldn't even reach him by phone. I'm not saying that the Shanny and AH are pals, but it's not the drama that the media is creating.

I agree.

AH was on the table simply because he's one of our most valuable chips to bargain with, not because Shanahan is holding a silly grudge over offseason workouts.

Both guys are underachievers on a 4-12 team. No fences need to be mended.
