Perhaps all this stuff- Briggs rumors, meeting with Russell, ra ra ra... maybe it's just symptoms of a new mindset in our front office. Be more disciplined, be more thorough, don't smother every big name on the market with cash, bluff a little, don't mortgage off draft picks (we haven't given up any so far this offseason). I don't know. Wishful thinking I guess

Very wishful, we have no pick's because of thier lack of a belief in drafting players, and now this whole thread is about us getting rid of the 1 pick we do have.:frusty:

Now the funniest comment I have heard yet is Gibbs talking about how all the real talent is in the second round, as if he's going to find some gem after the first round. I would love to continue typing but I just hit the floor with laughter.

Yeah, that is funny. Is he pretty much just telling everyone we're screwed?? We don't have any 2nd, 3rd, or 4th round picks, but that's where the gems are?? WTF??

The last thing we need is another big name ego on our team seriously. I still think Marshall has alot left in him and McIntosh is probly gonna get way better this year.. atleast i hope. I rather let guys in-house compete instead of another overpayed a-hole. Havent we learned yet. This is my mind would ruin our perfect offseason

So much for the Gibbs kind of guy's plan. Any player who would rather sit out than play for 7.2 million on a SB contender in my book is a loser, just the kind of guy we need. And rest assured this trade is going to happen.

The Three Stooges couldn't perform worse at GM if the team was owned by Abott and Costello.

Unessecarily cynical, yet accurate.

There's an automatic buyer's remorse inherently set in with discussion of any move the Redskins make by a lot of fans. This trade is not disastrous, but it might as well be I guess because it's the Redskins

No, it's not disasterous in it's current state. It's not like we are getting nothing of value in exchange for the 6th pick. But I worry about how much the Bears may be able to get us to throw in since we seem to be committed to Briggs.

It's not a great deal as is, and has the potential to get worse.

Re: NFL Network: Bears' Briggs, 31st Pick for Skins' 6th Pick?

I found a really good blog post from pro football reference that pertains directly to this trade. In fact, in a second post, they apply their study directly to our Briggs situation. I'll just say that the results favor us making the trade, and give a lot of substancial evidence to back up the Gibbs' quote that says the late first round and second harbor all the value in this year's draft.

Here's the study:

Pro-football-reference.com blog » What’s a draft pick worth?

Here's the study applied to us:

Pro-football-reference.com blog » An illustrative example: Lance Briggs and #31 for #6

We don't have any to give away. But apparently the possibility of giving the Bears the 6th pick and allowing them to get someone like Landry and probably throwing in other stuff as well is not yet dead so just give it some time, the offseason is still young.
