I can gurantee we're not going to see this much big name turnover on this team. Gibbs is going to make a few calculated moves but the biggest thing we're gonna see is a Gardner trade and some good value free agent pickups. If you remember in the past this has been about the time of year when all the Redskins wishes we're out on the table. This year we hear basically nothing. I think Gibbs is looking for continuity.

I think that Smoot will be back with us next year after he sees that other teams wont pay him what the redskins are offering.
I hope u didn't say the same thing for Bailey last year, one team that I know will pay for him is the Chiefs who plan to spend a lot of money on Defense this year. Never underestimate the other guy!! as for other vet cb's if they don't take what we offered smoot then move up Harris, sign Mario Edwards for cheap and wait till next year to get a corner in the first round.

As to the other post about Portis by others being the 'everything' back. Last year we were 31st in the league as a scoring offense, so we can use all the help we can get. Portis is great, I don't knock that but last year numbers in the redzone speak for themselves.

Portis suffered from a total lack of a passing game. Not hard to stop a redzone offense when you run off a guard 3 times in a row.

True but the blame doesn't just fall on the passing game because all 11 players were on that field and things need to be changed. as well as coaching decisions

When a team doesn't respect your passing game and can successfully rely on putting a bunch of players in the box, especially against a scheme that will rarely spread you out, it takes a lot of blame away from Portis and onto the QB, WRs, and coaching staff.

You have to also look at the line as well! I know with out Jansen that hurt but a weak center a young guard along with a so so Tackle in Samuels that is not going to help at all! Need to get Jan back and get some younger guys with upside a free agent or two and in the draft!

why do you guys think we need a number one receiver and not a number two. Either way they both start but what was so bad about coles numbers? Yea hes YPC average wasnt high, but that was the play calling not his fault. Since he got the shot he has been fast again. Plaxico and Ward usually alternate who has teh better year, either way he could be a starting receiver.

The real choice is, do you spend the money on a free agent receiver and draft a dlinemen, or spend the money on a dlinemen and draft a receiver. Statistically, the risk is much greater with drafting a dlinemen than a receiver. But at the same time we would be taking Mike Williams, who could be a risk after taking a year off. Or he could have huge potential, ya never know.

OK, so the Chiefs are planning on spending alot for defense. What makes you so sure that Smoot is who they want if the likes of Ty Law, C. Woodson, Surtan, and Rolle are also available? Smoot is a good CB but not a great CB and the others will be looked at first. Would you spend $15 to $20 million on Smoot or one of the other guys? Smoot is good but I dont feel that he is as good as Bailey or the other vets that I listed, if he was he would have atleast 1 pro-bowl under his belt. Smoot is a good fit on our team because he took on the leader roll and the young players look up to him.

The chiefs arent spending anything. I belive they are 15 million over the cap limit; so they dont really have the room to do somthing like that. That is one team who is going to struggle again next season I have to think. Which is good because I belive we play them.
