the point is though, when you've got athletes like Moss, Lloyd, and Randel El you don't need to throw the ball 50 yards downfield. With these guys 5 to 10 yd pass plays can easily and very often turn into big plays.

Overall looking at the first 3 games as a whole, i'd agree. Need to take a few more shots...

However, there was no reason to do it today. We were rolling with what was working, so I have no problems dinking and dunking it down the feild if its going to work.

Again looking at the first 3 games, I'm in that boat too. Today though, no problems from me.

Portis, his peformance was outstanding. Brunell would get a close second and theO-line an even tighter 3rd. No surprise with Portis back we are better.

Portis, no question. Everyone on the whole team plays better with him out there. He makes the o-line better because of his vision and speed, he opens up the passing game for Brunnell, and he even makes Betts better because the defense is not keying on him. And he's playing hurt.

He sets the tone for this team, from top to bottom.

Re: Skins vs. Texans MVP

I would go with the O-Line, but for the holding penalties. I have to go Portis. It's not so much what he does as it is the way he puts the fear of God in to opposing defenses and defensive coordinators. Hats off to Brunell for his record. I know he wasn't slinging it down field but there have been alot of ball control passing teams (think Joe Montana) that never accomplished that feat.

I think there were some things in there the team can build on and a win is a win is a win.

On the negative side that pass play to Johnson on the first defensive series looked eerily like the pass to Glenn last week. Fool me once, blah, blah, blah. Arch needs to get better in coverage.

Portis because of the momentum changing shuffle pass he carried for 75 yards.

Re: Skins vs. Texans MVP

I don't know if it was the o-line playing better that made Portis look so irreplacable or if Brunell just doing a better job of getting the ball out accurately or if Portis playing well gave Brunell a little more time and wiggle room. I voted for the o-line but in retrospect I think Portis made the clearest upgrade for the offense.

The o-line looked better ut had too many penalties and really played a lackluster line. They go the job done and should be commended though. Brunell had the time to do what he can do. I think this shows that he hasn't been the real problem.

Portis clearly brings so much more to the table than Betts. Betts is passable but Portis is obviously not only the center-piece but totally indispensable. Those who think he is a system back are crazy. The guy is as good as any back in the league.

Numerous time today Portis had runs where I thought..."well Betts would have gotten tackled earlier".

Re: Skins vs. Texans MVP

clinton portis hands down. He is the franchise player on this team and he proved it once again. The run at the end of the first half sealed the deal. I liked the fact that he sat once the game was in hand. He would have had all the yard betts had if he continued to play. Resting the shoulder was the smart move. We are going to need CP to win this weekend. He opens everything up. CP you the man!!!!!

Re: Skins vs. Texans MVP

everything on offense today was because of Portis. The o-line provides holes as always, but its Clinton who knows how to maximize them. Clinton set up Brunell, Betts, and a well rested defense as those 1st half stats kept showing.

Re: Skins vs. Texans MVP

I think Betts should've been a choice.

I voted for Brunell, and would have anyway, but great game by both RBs. The O-line made it possible for Brunell, but they also got a crapload of penalties.

You can't set an NFL record and not get some props.

The MVP was Al Saunders no ifs ands or butts. He called the perfect game today.

On the field it was Portis, no question.
