Favre is a NO Go Against the Giants

So says ESPN............

There's another thread for that too.

Well, congratulations to Brett Favre on his record setting streak, which I won't lie, I believe it should've ended in 2008 when he tore his rotator cuff with the Jets. If their coaching staff had made him take an MRI or CT Scan and a torn rotator cuff showed up, I have no doubts he would've been placed on IR.

But that's in the past and largely forgotten, and I won't be bitter about it seeing as how he is a HOFer and the streak was still largely impressive back in 2008, so I'll just congratulate him on playing through the pain all these years.

Re: Favre is a NO Go Against the Giants

Long live Brett Favre. I know he has a lot of critics, especially due to his waffling about retirement, but the bottom line here is that he was a man who gave his life to football, and had a deep seated desire to continue playing the game he loves, and wrestling with his own athletic mortality.

I wonder if he comes back at all this year, or is this it, with the playoffs completley out of the question...

Re: Favre is a NO Go Against the Giants

Pretty damn amazing streak, especially with the hits QBs take.

And I think he gets too much hate for his indecision. It's a job he really loves, and it's tough to leave something you love to do.

Re: Favre is a NO Go Against the Giants

What i dont understand is why, if the team wants to continue the streak, why they can't just put him in for one series or something...like a couple of handoffs...that way he can still start and keep the streak alive.

Well they approached him about doing that, but (and this is the only time I'll praise Favre for a decision he makes) he said he would never do that, once it's over, it's over, no doing anything like that to keep it alive.

I think this is finally it for him. So at the end of the day, I wonder if he's happier ending his career lying on his back in the midst of a miserable, scandal ridden season or would he have preferred have gone out slinging in an NFC Championship game?

Gotta Give 4 alot of props, the guy is a gamer and the toughest SOB in NFL history for a QB

Well he'll always be one of the most exciting players I ever watched. I'll never forget that MNF game after his father past away. All of us who were at the game 2 weeks ago, can say we saw him play his last full game...RUNNING for a f'ing 1st down to end it of all things.

Sounds like he could be done for the season. Hindsight sure is a bitch, but I'm sure he really regrets coming back this year. Couldn't have gone much worse.

They better get him some OL help soon then.

i really hope this is the end of him. Enough all ready, please.

I think if you are a Vikings fan you are a lot more upset about your season then a Redskin's fan is about his.

Re: Favre is a NO Go Against the Giants

Why does everybody hate Favre so much? I mean is it just because of the waffling?? I dont understand how a guy that has done so much in the NFL, and been such a good inspiration to people, and such a good ambassador to his sport, be hated by America like this.

Favre was around for my whole history as a fan, and to have been able to watch him over his whole career has been a privelage. I dont have the connection with many of the HOF players, but when Brett goes in, I can tell my wife and maybe kids, that I got to watch the greatest QB of all time, and that he really was as good as they said he was...

Why the hate??

Pretty easy to see why, he's a big time drama queen.

I've always been a fan of Favre (on the field), but in recent years his act off of it has been very tiring.

I would say that ESPN and the other media outlets have plenty to do with making him appear to be a drama queen the past two years. Favre isn't blameless, but I'm sure there are much more obscure people trying to decide whether to retire for good or keep on working.

If an 88 year old man ran over and killed your friend that you had since elementary school, i think you'd be a little leery of that age group too. gimme a break.

Especially when the guy didnt have a license, and had no charges filed against him because "he was too old to stand trial". Total f'n bs. Now his wife and children are alone. So if that was your situtation, you'd be jaded just like me.

The one hand that is real purple, apparantly that has to do with the injury in his shoulder/collar bone. They asked Favre about it yesterday and thats what he said. He also said he has hardly any feeling in that hand as well...

For the record there is one now. If you look at the times I wrote it at 6:16 pm the other thread on Landry was started at 6:27pm. I don't like to start threads so I was throwing it out there for someone else to start it.

The Vikings are officially out of the playoffs, and he has, among other things, an ankle that needs surgery and a bum shoulder, and he doesn't have another shot at the Packers. I'm actually surprised we're not hearing that there is a chance he might go home now.

Alright, calm down, nobody's saying you did anything wrong lol.

Anyways I heard that Favre's purple hand had something to do with the Redskins, not the shoulder injury that happened against Buffalo. Alls I know is that his body has finally reached mortality status, so I wouldn't be suprised if he's played his final down.
