Dual 100 Yard Rushers
Does anyone know what team holds the rcord for most games with two running backs going over 100 yards? I'm not sure it's a kept stat. It's not in the Redskins press guide as far as I can tell.
My other question is this: Which of the following reflects your best guess as to how Portis and Betts will fare together now that they are both known to us as star backs? 1. One or the other will shine but not both. One will have say 1400 yds and the other around 250. 2. They will be like Byner and Ervins or Franco and Bleir (sp?). One with 1200 and the other with say, 600. 3. They will share the load equally and each threaten the 1000 yard mark. Has that ever been done? I don't believe it has. I would have to be a number 2 with Portis at about 12 or 1300 and Betts with say 550 and 40 receptions. Any thoughts? |
Re: Dual 100 Yard Rushers
#3 has been done, Earnest Byner and another guy who's name I can't remember did it for the Browns in like 1988.

Re: Dual 100 Yard Rushers
the other back was cleveland gary.

Earnie Byner and Kevin Mack both went over 1000 yards for the Browns. |
Re: Dual 100 Yard Rushers
as did F. Harris & Bleir w/the steelers (I know you mentioned them)
|
Re: Dual 100 Yard Rushers
uhhhhhhhhh i wouldnt call betts a star back
|
Re: Dual 100 Yard Rushers
Mexico and Dunn both went over 1000 yards last year for ATL. I know MV isnt a RB but that is still pretty impressive.
|
Re: Dual 100 Yard Rushers
I'll say 1300 Portis and 700 Betts.

See... I will say Portis 400 then torn ACL... Betts has 1100+ last year in 8 games, so lets give him 1400 in 11 games. |

Ewwww. Don't jinx the season this early. Portis 1,100 Betts 900 Total yds. Portis - 1,500 Betts - 1,500 |

Kind of random to predict an ACL injury for Portis, isn't it? I wouldn't call that a prediction so much as a complete wild guess. |
Re: Dual 100 Yard Rushers
Portis runs for 3,000 with 45 TDs and smashes all rushing records... damn I'm playing too much Tecmo lately. ;)

Re: Dual 100 Yard Rushers
Well, in 2005 Portis had 1,500 and Betts had 350. I think we'd all say Betts came a long way this year and Portis could probably use a load taken off, how about 1,150 and 750? Just to be 'scientific' about the thing I went back and looked at KC's stats from 2004. Though Holmes did get hurt about halfway through that season, both Blaylock and Johnson went over 500 yards (oh, and Priest did manage 14 TDs before going down). Wouldn't mind seeing some rushing stats like that (21 rushing TDs, 2,000+ rushing yards)... and, oh yeah, we have Blaylock now too.

Re: Dual 100 Yard Rushers
You guys seem to forget that this is like the first season Betts didn't sit out a bunch of games with injury. He has yet to prove that he is durable. So Portis starts and Betts is a backup. 1700 Portis and 450 for Betts

Why, why would you even say that? Geez.. :smashfrea If Betts is the main ball carrier in 11 games he'll cost us 4 with his fumbles and none of us want to live thru that. |

If both are taking close to equal loads, It improves both of their chances at maintaining durability. If someone is a little bruised up, then the other will get more carries. Betts proved he was at least more durable than Portis last season didn't he? |
Re: Dual 100 Yard Rushers
how bout alot of 2-back-set usage with portis making catches in the flat...
i dont see any reason both our top backs cant hit the grand mark portis: 500 yards rushng 500 yads receiving betts 1100 yards rushing |

Re: Dual 100 Yard Rushers
Both LB/CP will carry for 1,000+

Re: Dual 100 Yard Rushers
didn't the broncos have 2 1000 yard rushers (tatum bell and mike anderson) like 2 years ago?

I thought Mike Anderson fell just short of the 1k mark, that year. Not sure, though. As for Portis tearing his ACL, that's kinda ridiculous. If anything, we should be predicting when Betts would go down, but I think they'll both benefit from taking the load off of one another. I'm hoping Portis has a bounce-back season and Betts stays healthy, holds onto the ball and finds the end zone a few times. I would like to see Portis go for like 1200-1500 and Betts around 700-800, but we'll see, I think that's a little optimistic. |
Re: Dual 100 Yard Rushers
portis 1500+
betts 500+ and to predict an injury is just plain stupid |
Re: Dual 100 Yard Rushers
Portis 1,050, Betts 800

no one of them had 1000 the other had like 920 or something |
Re: Dual 100 Yard Rushers
2005:
Mike Anderson: 1014 yards Tatum Bell: 921 yards So, I had it backwards, Bell came up short. |
Re: Dual 100 Yard Rushers
What is up with predicting a Portis ACL??? That isn't cool.

[quote=jdlea;309054]2005:

Re: Dual 100 Yard Rushers
Since it is all speculation anyway, and since I dont feel like being level headed right now. Portis 2000, Betts 1000 and Campbell throws for 4000! Whohoo, high expectations!
