I think they're giving away free coffee today. At least the one here in NC was. I ordered a Grande Hazelnut coffee about 6am this morning, took the same coffee stained cup back there at 9am for a refill. No problem. |
re: Election Day Thread 2008
Well if you look at history we have low turn outs in most elections. I'm sure if this trend continues then we will see more voting machines and more places to vote. They are machines and they are going to break down.
I know, but there's such thing as planning and contingency. They're running out of paper ballots they were going to use for backup. I don't understand why they're opposed to extending voting hours though, do you? |
re: Election Day Thread 2008
Was able to hit the polling place at lunch time. No lines no waiting. In and out in 2 minutes.

Seriously, how can anyone be surprised with the huge turnout today? There needs to be some serious voting reform in the near future, you would think after the mess in 2000 this would have been addressed already. Some places uses machines, others use paper, hanging chads, broken machines, I mean c'mon is it too much to ask to have a standard voting method, and preferably one that isn't prone to breaking down or being hacked or manipulated? |

I wrote "Nader" on a Post-It Note and handed it to the nice lady who checked me in - fortunately it only cost $79.95 to vote down here, not like some of the outrageously expensive places up north. |

Each state controls its voting method, so, unfortunately, it may be too much to ask. |

Online voting. Seriously, near 100% participation basically guaranteed. |

I'm guessing closer to 110-120% participation... |
