Re: Redskins need to sign Ricky Williams.
running back seems like a lesser priority for this squad. i agree portis is showing some wear and tear, and we need to tweak things for next year. however, i hope the priorities with management are the offensive line and quarterback position.
that said, betts and cartwright showed some signs of life on sunday. if we're stuck with them and portis in the backfield next year with a fresh new oline and qb, i wouldn't complain. that needs to come first. ideally though, i'd like to see them add a promising young prospect in the backfield. keep betts, dump portis and do whatever with cartwright. i just don't know if we're in the position to make this move immediately, considering our primary needs. then again fuck it, let's get real...when was the last time the skins made a smart move? |

Just becasue you don't agree with the topic doesn't make it a fail, Richard. |
Re: Redskins need to sign Ricky Williams.
Definitly. Ricky could take the players over to Amsterdam in the off season and smoke some weed so they could chill out together, eat together and play Madden together. Then come back in the preseason and buy some Dr. Scholes inserts and be gelling together.
Just kidding. At this point I don't think anyone will make a difference behind our O-line. |

First, I actually made a positive contribution to this thread later on. Second, it is very unlikely that either a.) Miami will let Ricky Williams go and b.) Ricky Williams would want to leave a team where he gets to share the RB duties with Ronnie Brown. Third, Ricky Williams plans to retire after the 2010 season. Fourth, our team's #1 concern at this point should be to fix the offensive line. While RB is a concern, we can pick up a good RB in the 2nd or later rounds. |

Actually it is...give me a good reasonable argument why it isn't? And try to do it without sounding like a 10 year old calling me names. |
Re: Redskins need to sign Ricky Williams.
Dont want Ricky, rather have a draft pick splitting time CP in the backfield next year. Need a youth movement. Ricky is a good player, he should stay in Miami.

Re: Redskins need to sign Ricky Williams.
Thread fail - RW is signed through 2010. Dolphins extend Ricky Williams's contract

Re: Redskins need to sign Ricky Williams.
With RW you just need to put a bong in the end zone.

Re: Redskins need to sign Ricky Williams.
Williams and Portis would be a great combo, however Miami would be foolish to let him go and we're also not sure that Williams' huge numbers in limited playing time this season is a direct result of the Wildcat or his own talent. I'm leaning more towards his success being from the system. He may not do as well outside of Miami.

Just kidding. At this point I don't think anyone will make a difference behind our O-line.
I know what you're saying, the o line is far & away the weakest unit on the team. But watching Portis this year & Betts on sunday it's clear that someone can do more behind this line. Portis looks slow & indecisive unless there's a sizable hole, which in most cases there hasn't been. In a perfect world, we'd be able to find a rb in later rounds & upgrade the line early in next year's draft. A lot of course will depend on how the team addresses the qb. Given how the team kept 4 rb's & at one time had 5 it seems clear this staff wants some new blood there. We'll see if the new staff does too. I'm thinking they will. |
Re: Redskins need to sign Ricky Williams.
This thread is ridiculous. You’re telling me Ricky Williams is even an option. He is too old and for that matter Portis is way better them him if there is an uncapped year we should just keep him. Just shut this stupid thread down.

Re: Redskins need to sign Ricky Williams.
hes not an area of need...and the Redskins dont run the ball enough for any back to wear down a defense, plus they take running back out when he gets on a roll

Here's an intelligent post. There's no reason to speculate about RW since he will not be available. |

85 yds 456 avg 5.4 tds 6
He gets an awful lot of those yards with Ronnie Brown running the Wildcat. I seriously thought this thread was a joke. Putting a 32 year old running back behind this offensive line will reduce his shelf life to months, not years. |
