Re: Mad props to Cam Newton
I am in Charlotte NC and there is a group of gripers still griping about Cam. They did not want him picked, especially at number one. They were perfectly patient for Jimmy to develop. They are still trying to come up with excuses. The guy does not even drink alcohol. It's like if he isn't perfect he is a bust. They are searching through the guy's garbage can as I speak. I sympathize with him. Some people are trying to use JaMarcus Russell to disqualify a lot great athletes that are coming up after him. It's not fair. I'm ready to call em out.
Well good for you I guess. But in the grand scheme, most people probably don't even care about him enough to hate him. This is probably not the forum for your campaign. Hopefully you'll have other stuff to discuss here |

Re: Mad props to Cam Newton
And his injury changed the course of football.
I think, and I suspect NC Skins would say the same, Cam has been absolutely outstanding through his first six (or is it seven?) games. But we've seen many players, at different positions across all sports, get off to hot starts only to fade. So to say let's see how it plays out over a bit of a longer sample size is not hate. Not at all.

I think you took NC Skins comments too personal. I mean at no time did I, and probably anyone else, think he hates him and wants to see him fail. Can't understand why you did.
I'm going to hire SS as my agent. In the immortal words, a great mod once said...."Preach". Check better be in the mail bro! |
Re: Mad props to Cam Newton
All he is saying is that Zorn went 6-2, before falling to earth. Newton looks real enough, but half a season, isn't enough to proclaim a rookie a success. Other reminders, Horton looked to be the real deal, but after a year, couldn't find it anymore.
That was the point of the Zorn example. The first part of the season, he was new and there was no game film on his offense. Remember that Zorn for NFL coach of year and Portis for MVP talk at the half? The second half (and following season) the defenses had caught up with him and stuffed anything he put on the field. EVEN THE ELUSIVE SWINGING GATE!(following year) Kid has been outstanding this year as a rookie, and even more impressive because it's at the QB position. He made all the throws he needed to yesterday and ran when he had to. I'm not going to sit here and say......."Well, Smitty is the reason.......or Haslett didn't do this or that on the defensive scheme". A bunch of bullshit woulda/coulda scenarios there. In the end he tore us a new asshole. |
Re: Mad props to Cam Newton
It's too soon to call him the real deal? It's like Jim Zorn's offense? Based on what statistics?
Lots of stuff NC Skins and I don't agree on off-the-field, but on-the-field we agree far more often than not and certainly on this issue. Let's not annoint Cam yet, he hasn't played half a season. Has he exceeded my expectations for him in the passing game, so far certainly.
Without a full rehash of where I stand, just do a search on my user name and Cam Newton. That'll give you all the facts you should need. |
Re: Mad props to Cam Newton
The Redskins continue to get owned by rookie QBs... Maybe thats a sign HMM...Draft a rookie QB and start him!!!!!!!!

Re: Mad props to Cam Newton
NCSkins just doesn't like Cam Newton there is nothing this guy will do to make NCSkins stop criticizing him. He just does not like the guy, I get the point. He trying to make up stuff.
Really? That's a bit of a stretch, especially after he just said he would like to eat crow on Cam because NC is his home state. Edit: I see the brigade has come to NC's rescue. |

This guy has some class and has a bright future, I thought he was some punk ass cheater that took $ and would be a complete lazy ass in the NFL
Agreed. He's completely changed my opinion about him in just a few short weeks. I thought him and his dad were in on it the entire way with the pay for play scheme. But he's said and done all the right things in his short time in the NFL so far. And he actually comes across as genuine, unlike Michael Vick since he got out of prison. |
Re: Mad props to Cam Newton
Cam is a class guy, the way he dress and speak, and without the tatoos, yes he will have a great future.

I don't understand the hype about tattoos. Having a tattoo doesn't make him a bad person. I understand there's kind of a double standard, we all think Pryor is a pos for trading memorabilia for tattoos (but that's different, I see Pryor as a young punk simply because he acted like he was above the law at Ohio State), but even if Cam did have tattoos it really shouldn't be that big of a deal. Tattoos don't change people, and I say this knowing I'm slightly biased because I have one of my own, with plans for more. |
Cam is a class guy, the way he dress and speak, and without the tatoos, yes he will have a great future.
Ok, lets stop this shit about "Cam is a class guy". Guys with class don't cheat in school and steal laptops. Guys with class don't knowingly let their dad pimp their skills out to the highest bidder and deny ever knowing it to the NCAA and reporters. Say what you want to about the on the field skills, but lets stop this bullshit about being a "class guy". THAT much he's already proved he's not. Bert: Not sure where you get this idea about tattoos, but I would probably guess that many of those Wall Street guys that stole from the US citizen didn't have any tattoos. Guess that makes them "class guys" right? /facepalm The logic on some people. |
