Re: The Spies Next Door

Suprised this wasn't posted earlier.

I'd be suprised but I don't think I'm that naive to think there aren't people in the US trying to spy for their home countries. We have domestic terrorists here in the US, there's no reason to believe there's not spies here either. Good job catching them and hopefully these guys will suffer and the bigger leason will be learned by countries like Russia. Then again I'm not naive enough to believe the US doesn't have spies in other countries. So it's a double edged sword imo. I'm also glad we are hearing about this now and not after we hear in the media that there's some top secret info getting leaked to other countries and we don't know who's doing it.

So all in all just some good news about something our gov't did right for once. I'm sure this will turn into another heated discussion on this board that will inevitably end up about politics though, there isn't anything gov't related on this board that didn't end up turning into a fight between liberals and conservatives.

Re: The Spies Next Door

Just curious as to whom on this board actually lived in proximity to those that have been arrested. When we lived in suburban D.C. I always wondered who was a “spook” when we strolled down Embassy Row, around the White House, Pentagon, etc. I guess you just never know who your neighbors really are sometimes.

Re: The Spies Next Door

Luckily Sarah Palin can spy for us because she can see Russia from her house.

no doubt, who there actually has access to stuff

I mean even in very very rural Virginia there were several people taken in after 9/11 including those associated with a group where members in Colorado had been caught with lots of info, blueprints, weapons, explosives, etc..

really goes to show how deep intel goes

I love hearing stuff like this.. if anyone likes reading and hasn't already checked out Digital Fortress by Dan Brown (same guy as The DaVinci Code) I suggest that you give it a read

Really entertaining book. Dan Brown can really crank out the page turners. It's not compelling literature, but it's damn entertaining.

This story about the spies is some serious cold-war throwback stuff. Speaks to Putin's desire to bring back the spy networks of the old USSR.

Re: The Spies Next Door

I'm guessing Russia will now be inclined to round-up some Americans and an exchange of agents will take place. Let's hope our agents in Russia have better covers than our Iranian boarder "hikers."

Shit I just converted to Rushki!

Why do they need to spy on us when they already have a fellow traveller in the WH?

Huh?

Are you saying that Obama is Russian? Or are you saying that Obama is Communist (which Russia no longer is)?
