Re: 2023 MLB Season Thread
40/70 is fucking ridiculous. Generational talent.

Congrats Punch, Yankees haven't finished below 500 in 31 years now. Insane streak. I swear Yankees and their NL counterparts the Braves never lose

Re: 2023 MLB Season Thread
Yes it is. 70 stolen bases is more impressive than 40 home runs. That is crazy. Literally he must be stealing nearly every opportunity and is successful. Best offensive player in baseball now on a stacked team.

Re: 2023 MLB Season Thread
The new rules of course helped greatly, otherwise he's probably more in the range of 40 SB. Still impressive either way.

Re: 2023 MLB Season Thread
Anything short of a world championship makes the Braves season a failure imo. The only team that might put up a fight are the Dodgers. Nobody in AL will

Re: 2023 MLB Season Thread
Baseball playoffs are the ultimate crapshoot. This season was a blast regardless imo.

In all seriousness I was listening to Loud Outs on Monday and they were talking about in a 3 and 5 game series there is some randomness involved but the longer series the better team wins 90% of the time. At the beginning of the 20th century they used to play 9 game series and went to 7 because there was rarely an upset. (I am curious how much gambling played a role in that).

Re: 2023 MLB Season Thread
I'd love to see Baltimore have a great post season I just don't see it. They had one hitter bat over .280 the entire season, the great Ryan O'Hearn. They are middle of the road in almost every metric offensively. Pitching is suspect at best, we are looking at Kyle Bradish, Grayson Rodriguez and John Means as the starters and losing the best pitcher in the majors to Tommy Johns in August has left a glaring hole in the bull pen. Gunnar is fun but he is going to have to start being more than a .255 hitter in the future if this team will take the next step.
